Manage and coordinate the planning, execution, and oversight of nuclear microreactor development projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope.
Minimum 5 years of project management experience, familiarity with PMI principles, and ability to handle complex technical projects, preferably in energy or nuclear sectors.
NOTE: This position is available for fully remote work within the contiguous United States. POSITION SUMMARY: The project manager will manage the demonstration reactor project, along with the product development project for NuScale's microreactor technology. The project manager leads a diverse team with various departments to advance the NuScale microreactor design, fabrication and demonstration reactor deployment. This position reports to the Manager, Product Development and will be part of a dynamic high impact team focused on developing NuScale’s microreactor technology. The team reports to the CTO. NuScale’s microreactor technology is in the early stages of development and the target market for this product includes research reactor and commercial distributed power and heat applications at a thermal power scale smaller than NuScale’s commercial small modular reactor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the overall planning and execution of project activities for assigned projects. Proactively identify and achieve resolution of project problems and anticipated challenges, including escalation of issues within the NuScale organization when necessary. Develop and maintain preliminary project cost and schedule towards near term reactor demonstration during the Phase 1 – proof of concept testing Document and maintain the approved baseline, earned value planning and management, and project execution strategy in a Project Management Plan (needed after Phase 1). Provides weekly and monthly status reports focused on project performance (earned value metrics, variance analysis, etc.), schedule and cost risk mitigations, and issue resolution to project stakeholders (needed after Phase 1). Coordinate with performing organization management personnel to assign work package managers and qualified resources for project execution. Develop, maintain and control project-specific plans and procedures needed for the efficient execution of the project. Evaluation, selection, and oversight of subcontracted service providers that will be performing in support of project objectives. Maintain the group’s standard of high quality and timely completion of tasks. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES: Education: A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline is required. An advanced degree is Preferred, Experience: Must have a minimum of 5 years’ full-time experience in project management or related field. Experience with microreactor technology, markets and technology development is preferred. The following on the job training is required to be completed within a year of appointment: Demonstrated application of Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge principles and processes. Demonstrated application of integrated cost and schedule control, or ANSI EIA-748-C Earned Value Management System practices. Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent certification program completion. Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810. Pay and Benefits: The target pay range for this position is $99,175 - $119,694 annually. The full pay range is $88,915 - $139,073 annually.
