Ensure product and process quality by monitoring performance, leading investigations, conducting audits, and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing.
Bachelor's in engineering plus 2-5+ years quality engineering experience with knowledge of quality tools and standards in manufacturing environments.
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and processes consistently meet established quality standards. This role focuses on preventing defects, improving manufacturing processes, and driving systematic problem-solving to achieve high product reliability and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities • Monitor and analyze in-process and final product quality performance using statistical methods (SPC, capability studies, yield tracking). • Lead investigation and resolution of non-conformances, customer complaints, and internal quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, A3, etc.). • Perform root cause analysis with tools such as 5-Why, Ishikawa (fishbone), fault tree, or similar techniques. • Develop, maintain, and update Process FMEAs (PFMEA) and control plans to identify and mitigate risks. • Support new product introduction (NPI) and process changes through risk assessments, validation, and quality planning (APQP or similar). • Conduct process audits, product audits, and layered process audits to verify compliance and effectiveness of controls. • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify their effectiveness. • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to implement process improvements and defect prevention measures. • Support supplier quality improvement activities (incoming inspection, supplier audits, SCARs). • Prepare and present quality metrics, reports, and improvement project status to management. • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to reduce waste and cost of poor quality. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related). • 2-5+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. • Strong knowledge of quality tools: FMEA, 8D, root cause analysis, control plans, SPC, MSA, PPAP. • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 standards. • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher is a plus. • Experience in automotive, aerospace, electronics, medical devices, or general discrete manufacturing is preferred.
