Rather than relying on conventional large-scale or space-oriented designs, NuCube has created a reactor capable of generating heat in excess of 1,000°C without the need for water or gas cooling, utilizing few moving components and delivering high efficiency. The Materials Research and Development Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the materials development roadmap. This individual is responsible for identifying resource needs and will support recruitment. Team leadership: supervise and mentor R&D engineers. Management: responsible for planning, coordinating and executing R&D projects and associated budgets. Develop material testing and qualification strategies. Formalizing performance analysis (modeling) of materials and components under NuCube’s NQA-1 program. Develop, implement, and maintain procedures that comply with the NuCube’s Quality Management System (QMS). Supply chain development and acquisition of materials for testing and reactor deployment Develop formal material testing plans under NuCube’s QMS. Perform in-house material testing. Oversee external testing programs. Delivery of reports or documents to support licensing. Provide support for development of proposals. Develop a roadmap for improving reactor performance and profitability via introduction of new materials and execute operations according to the roadmap Perform other duties as assigned. Education: A minimum of a MS degree in material science or nuclear engineering with an emphasis on materials. A PhD is strongly preferred. Experience: A minimum of 10-15 years' direct related experience in advanced materials qualification and development, preferably in the nuclear industry. Overall, Job Knowledge and Performance: In-depth understanding of materials for use in nuclear reactor facilities. Management: Demonstrated ability to manage others and coordinate across multiple organizations to provide solutions in a timely manner. Advanced materials research and development. Design engineering of nuclear facilities and reactors. Demonstrated skill and knowledge of applicable codes and standards. A proven ability to manage concurrent projects and deadlines effectively.
