Position Summary The Accounting Manager will oversee daily accounting operations within a centralized shared-services environment for a multi-franchise automotive dealership group. This role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, enforces internal controls, and plays a key role in delivering financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making. The Accounting Manager is responsible not only for maintaining accounting integrity and compliance but also for translating financial data into actionable insights that help drive performance, improve profitability, and support dealership leaders. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, analytical capabilities, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closes, including preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies. • Review and approve reconciliations and ensure resolution of outstanding issues. • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and external regulations. • Analyze and monitor company debt, equity, and working capital. Financial Reporting & Analysis • Prepare and review internal financial reports including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow. • Assist with the consolidation of financials for corporate-level reporting. • Manage monthly and annual financial reporting. • Work with external auditors and provide required documentation and support • Analyze variances and trends, providing insights to operational and finance leadership. • Ensure compliance with financial covenants and reporting. • Assist with financial analysis and internal controls. Team Leadership & Development • Lead and mentor a team of staff and senior accountants; assign tasks, monitor performance, and support professional development. • Foster a collaborative team culture focused on responsiveness and continuous improvement. • Ensure proper training, documentation, and succession planning within the accounting team. Qualifications & Experience • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred. • 6-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role. • Experience in multi-entity or multi-location environments preferred. • Automotive retail/dealership accounting experience strongly preferred. • Familiarity with dealership management systems such as Tekion, CDK, or Reynolds & Reynolds. • Strong knowledge of GAAP, reconciliations, month-end close processes, and internal controls. • Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
