Payments & Fraud Operations Manager $130k - $160k • meaningful equity Summary: Backed by some of the best in the game - Forerunner Ventures, YC, Lux, Soma, Paul Graham, Joe Montana, Innospark, the founders of Instacart and Dropbox, and many other top angels and funds Founders are recent Harvard grads with quant experience at Jane Street and BoA and years of experience as sharp sports bettors $300B annually bet on sports in the US and the size of the market is rapidly growing, particularly given the opportunity for operators to capitalize on the sweepstakes business model Currently the only way to bet is with retail sportsbooks, which have egregious margins, discriminatory and inefficient practices, and a stale betting experience Novig is a sports prediction market that guarantees users the best lines by allowing them to play directly against friends or the market, rather than against the house, making the sports trading experience more efficient , fair , and, most importantly, profitable What will you do? Lead fraud detection and prevention programs, using internal and external tools to monitor transactions, identify suspicious patterns, and respond to emerging threats Design and refine workflows and rules for fraud case detection, escalation, chargeback analysis, and real-time transaction monitoring Analyze fraud and payment data, producing actionable insights to inform both day-to-day decisions and long-term fraud strategy Oversee payment operations, including purchases, redemptions, reconciliations, and exception handling, ensuring efficient and compliant processes with all partners Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Service to improve risk controls and deliver a seamless, secure customer experience Ensure robust KYC, AML, and industry compliance, adapting processes as regulations and business needs evolve Prepare and present clear reporting on fraud trends, team performance, and incident outcomes to management, and act quickly when escalated or emergency issues arise Foster a culture of operational excellence and accountability, leading and mentoring team members to drive continuous improvement and strong results What are we looking for? 3-5+ years working in payment operations or risk/fraud management roles Strong comfortability working with large sets of data, using SQL. Familiarity with crypto is a plus Demonstrated success in overseeing payments operations, including knowledge of payment platforms, processors, gateways, chargeback/dispute management, and cash reconciliation Direct experience in sports betting, igaming, or sweepstakes operations is highly desirable Hands-on experience with state-of-the-art fraud management tools and methodologies, such as advanced transaction monitoring, case management, risk scoring, and fraud investigations (including identity theft, account takeover, and payment fraud scenarios) Strong understanding of KYC/AML best practices, compliance workflows, and the regulatory frameworks that impact payments and fraud teams in the US or global markets Analytical prowess, excellent at interpreting complex payments and risk data, identifying trends/patterns, and implementing operational improvements. Strategic problem-solving capability, thriving in ambiguous or fast-evolving business settings typical of high-growth tech start-ups. Effective cross-functional communicator, collaborating with product, engineering, compliance, customer service, and external partners. Who is Novig?
