Job Description Directs, plans, and organizes the staff and operations engaged in organization pre-award sponsored program activities. Supports research leadership regarding the identification of annual system priorities for grants and contracts. Job Responsibility Leads a Grants Management group by communication with and developing staff members, and building consensus for programs and goals that support a business, function or geographic area. Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility. Directs operation and management of pre-award and research development activities for the organization. Negotiates agreements with federal, state, corporate, and foundation sponsors on behalf of the organization. Partners with Finance to ensure smooth transitions from pre-award to post-award and post-award to close-out. Participates in transition from paper to electronic pre- and post-award administration Develops and reports metrics for pre-award activities for the organization. Serves as liaison to center heads and departments to ensure positive service orientation for the office. Develops appropriate internal and external training for and organization employees. Aligns research and non-research efforts with organization priorities. Serves as pre-award liaison and partner to the organization foundation. Performs related duties as required. Job Qualification Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Certified Research Administrator(CRA) or Certified Pre Award Research Administrator(CPRA), required. 8-12 years of technical experience and 7+ years of leadership / management experience, required. Required: Experience using sponsor electronic systems such as Grants.gov, NIH eRA Commons/ASSIST, NSF Research.gov, NSPIRES, Grants Solutions, Huron Click, InfoEd, or Cayuse. Experience interpreting and applying federal, state, sponsor, and institutional policies. Experience with Pre- and Post-Award Management in government, nonprofit, or academic settings. Strong leadership in a research administration environment, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. A proactive problem-solver with strong critical thinking skills. Preferred: Master’s Degree in a related field. Experience managing large or interdisciplinary proposal submissions. Experience developing and delivering training to research administrators and researchers. Familiarity with compliance issues related to research, such as conflict of interest, export controls, human subjects, or cost sharing. Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and project management software (e.g., Monday.com, Asana, or similar).
