NORTH TEXAS TOLLWAY AUTHORITY Summary The Irrigation Supervisor oversees two irrigation teams consisting of a Sam Rayburn Tollway crew and a Dallas North Tollway crew. The supervisor monitors the care and maintenance of existing irrigation assets, provides training to team members, and directs the activities of the irrigation crews. The Irrigation Supervisor also assists with the oversight of landscape/irrigation projects and systems within existing and newly constructed right of way. This is accomplished by providing direction to consultants, reviewing and providing input on landscape and irrigation plans, monitoring installations, providing construction management oversight during the maintenance and warranty period, and developing contract scopes of work and specifications. Other duties include serving on committees, responding to inquiries, and tabulating scheduled reports. This position reports to the Landscape Division Manager. This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in the NTTA Employee Handbook. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain agency operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation. This is a Safety-Sensitive Position as defined in the NTTA Employee Handbook. Employees are required to pass drug and alcohol tests prior to employment and submit to drug and alcohol screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in this position. • Salary Range: $55,860.00 - $73,500.00 *** • $2,000 Retention Bonus *** Responsibilities • Monitors irrigation assets and ensures maintenance and repairs are accomplished utilizing accepted practices. • Completes administrative tasks by generating work orders, planning, and scheduling tasks, generating reports and cost analyses, scheduling and documenting time and labor costs, monitoring crew progress, and assisting with progress reports. • Monitors existing maintenance contracts by completing site reviews, recommending remedial activities and maintenance schedules, ensuring irrigation schedules are enhancing plant growth and health, and developing criteria for landscape and turf condition assessment. • Provides direction to consultants by recommending materials, ensuring maintenance is minimized, and ensuring irrigation activities are included in plans. • Reviews and comments on landscape and irrigation plans by completing detailed design reviews and ensuring compliance with NTTA Design Guidelines and all environmental regulations. • Monitors new installations by completing periodic site surveys, communicating identified issues with construction personnel including contractors and construction managers, reviewing contractor activity reports, coordinating landscape and irrigation plan changes, reviewing change orders, monitoring plant performance in relation to irrigation, and reviewing maintenance, irrigation, fertilizing and herbicide application schedules. • Provides direction to direct reports regarding oversight of construction management activities during the maintenance and warranty periods of landscape and irrigation projects. Responsible for ensuring activities are performed in accordance with the contract. • Assists in the development of landscape, irrigation, and turf contracts by assisting in contract development, ensuring all specifications and information are included, recommending maintenance activities, and rating contractor qualifications. • Assigns and manages irrigation crews in the performance of routine irrigation maintenance and repair for assigned NTTA property. • Performs hands-on work with the crew to meet work and scheduling demands, as needed. • Manages irrigation problems by providing crew direction, ensuring training is sufficient, acting as an irrigation resource, developing training programs, providing guidance on irrigation techniques, water requirements, and maintaining records of irrigation systems. • Supervises assigned staff, which includes employment actions, performance management, training, and career development. • Performs other duties, as assigned Qualifications Minimum: • High school diploma or GED • 5-7 years’ experience in irrigation, including 1-2 years supervisory experience • Minimum 5 years’ central control systems experience • Valid Texas Class “B” CDL • Ability to obtain a CDL Tanker Endorsement within 12 months of hire • Valid Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Landscape Irrigator License • Valid Texas A&M University AgriLife Extension Landscape Irrigation Auditor Certification • Ability to obtain Texas Nursery and Landscape Association Texas Water Smart Professional Certification within 12 months of hire • Rainbird central control systems experience Preferred • Valid CDL Tanker Endorsement • Texas Nursery and Landscape Association Texas Water Smart Professional Certification Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the United States immediately.
