NightStar Lodging Hotel Group owns and manages four hotels in Jackson County, NC. We partner with IHG, Best Western International, Choice Hotels, and Wyndham Hotels providing award-winning hotel accommodations. We have an immediate need for a General Manager and Assistant General Manager within our portfolio. The General Manager oversees, directs and manages all property operations. Responsible for the overall success of the hotel, meeting or exceeding planned objectives for revenue and profit, and guaranteeing guest satisfaction and product quality standards are met. Manages all areas of the hotel in accordance with brand standards to achieve a friendly atmosphere of superior guest service and quality. The General Manager will establish priorities and lead key operational initiatives such as the sales plan and budget development and execution of physical property improvement projects. They will provide hands on leadership to ensure that revenue is maximized while expenses are effectively controlled. This individual provides exemplary performance for staff to follow. General Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, formulating overall strategy, managing people and establishing policies. To be successful in this role, you should be a thoughtful leader and a confident decision-maker, helping our people develop and be productive, while ensuring our profits are on the rise. Ultimately, you’ll help our company grow and thrive. Prior hotel experience and management is required. Responsibilities • Oversee day-to-day operations of all departments and working closely with department heads providing ongoing support • Design strategy and set goals for growth • Maintain budgets and optimize expenses, managing on-going profitability of the hotel • Set policies and processes • Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally • Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline all personnel • Inspect rooms and property daily • Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance • Direct the employee assessment process • Prepare regular reports for upper management • Ensure staff follows health and safety regulations • Provide solutions to issues (e.g. guest complaints, profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors) • Be in the public areas during peak times, greeting guests and offering assistance as needed • Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of the hotel and management company • Handle complete processing of invoices, along with all other Accounts Payables/Receivables • Process payroll bi-weekly • Cover shifts as needed during emergencies JOB REQUIREMENTS • Post-high school course work in hospitality from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Business Administration, or related major and/or four years experience in hospitality/hotel management field including guest services, front desk, housekeeping, sales and marketing, and management operations. • Dependable, reliable, and self-motivated • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. • Strong financial knowledge • Branded hotel experience and desire to operate an award-winning hotel • Adaptability and flexibility in a constantly changing environment • Leadership skills with the ability to delegate, motivate, and inspire • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times with a warm and friendly demeanor • Exceptional customer service skills with proven experience in leading a quality service-driven team • Ability to contribute both strategically and operationally to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks • Ability to lead and maintain composure in all situations, with both internal and external influences • Effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information • Proficient in computers, Microsoft Office, and other technical skills • Ability to perform the physical aspects of the job including sitting, bending, climbing, standing, reaching, and walking for up to 90% of the workday and lifting and carrying up to 35pds. • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle NightStar Lodging LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
