Nidec Mobility America Corporation(NMOA) has immediate opportunity for one energetic / focused Automation Maintenance Technician (Maintenance Equipment Technician) within our St. Charles, IL location. We are the North America headquarters for Nidec Mobility America (locations in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Canada, Mexico) and a leading Automotive Electronics Designer and manufacturer of sophisticated electronic sensing and control technology / components. We control the most discrete functions within an automobile, including: power system components, complex user interfaces, seat and power window switches, and instrument panel controls, electronic sensing/radar). Objective Under direction of the Equipment Maintenance Technician Supervisor, performs various skilled and complex tasks in the repair and maintenance of production machinery and equipment which may include, but is not limited to, high speed automated assembly line equipment, contact welding and press machines, robotic coil winders, axial and radial inserters, wave soldering machines, and SMT equipment. Responsible to continuously improve the equipment and machinery while demonstrating excellence in maintenance service. Essential Responsibilities • Monitors, analyzes, diagnoses and then fine tunes or repairs machine problems in conjunction with manufacturing engineering and production supervisors. • Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, wiring schematic diagrams, and complex equipment manuals. • Utilizes advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills in problem assessment. Tests and evaluates equipment performance. • Utilizes effective PLC diagnostics and programming skills. • Assists with the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs on all equipment. Works closely with production supervisors to schedule PM activities. • Train production operators on how to perform and assist with simple PM duties. • Assists with developing and maintaining the equipment spare parts inventory. • May complete purchase requisitions for the purchase of spare parts. • Investigates causes of machine problems, raw materials, tooling and equipment. Recommends improvements to processes and equipment to improve efficiency. • Properly documents new procedures and machine changes or additions. Accurately completes all paperwork associated with PM and machine downtime. • May create special fixtures or modify existing equipment with the use of surface grinders, milling machines, arc welder, and lathes. • Utilizes various diagnostic equipment and measuring devices such as voltmeters, calipers, micrometers, and oscilloscopes. • Supports and participates in the Company’s management and quality system including continuous improvement efforts. Experience: 2+ years' equipment maintenance technician in an automated assembly production environment Education: High School or Equivalent Knowledge/Skills/Abilities • Ability to operate / diagnose a variety of automated assembly production equipment within an electronics assembly (PLC's, sensing, robots pick/place). • Extensive knowledge of electro-mechanical equipment operating under PLC’s, robotics, machining, pneumatics, hydraulics, and sensor controls. • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with strong time and project management skills. • Basic PC skills (Microsoft Office, Word and Excel). Familiarity with computerized PM program preferred. • Preventative maintenance experience with exposure to computer software and systems. • Ongoing ability to compete high level mechanical diagnostic, calibration, set-up and repair duties as required. • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic functions.
