Job Openings: 1 Experience: 10-15 Yrs Published On: Aug 25, 2025, 03:28 pm The Senior Project Manager will report to the Director of the Information Technology (IT) Program Management Office (PMO). The Senior Project Manager plays a critical role in delivering the vital software applications and infrastructure that power the State of Texas’s educational system. You will be responsible for leading Agile software development teams to execute the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring on-time delivery of projects critical to fulfilling legislative requirements and agency strategic priorities. This role demands a strong leader with a proven track record in Agile project management, preferably within the education domain. You will have the opportunity to oversee, direct, and evaluate the work of project staff, and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including agency leadership, other state agencies, and private sector partners. This position offers considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgement, requiring the Senior Project manager to perform advanced levels of project management work. The essential functions of this Senior Project Manager role are crucial for ensuring the successful delivery and maintenance of high-quality software applications that support the vital educational services provided to the State of Texas. By providing teams a consistent process, you will ensure predictable delivery and efficient use of resources, minimizing costly rework and delays. Championing deliverable quality guarantees the smooth operation of state services and maintains user trust, preventing service disruptions and potential damage to the agency’s reputation. Prioritizing stakeholder satisfaction fosters strong relationships and secures buy-in from all involved parties, ensuring the project meets the needs of everyone and contributes to overall success. Through effective leadership, you will empower your team to achieve extraordinary results and contribute significantly to the agency’s mission by fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Finally, by articulating a clear vision, you will guide the team’s efforts, ensure alignment with strategic goals, and enable proactive planning and risk mitigation, maximizing the chances of project success and long-term impact. 1 – Process Consistency - Direct, develop, and evaluate Agile processes used by project teams 2 – Deliverable Quality - Monitor and measure quality of applications and identify continuous improvement opportunities 3 - Stakeholder Satisfaction - Build strong relationships with management, product owners, project team members 4 - Leadership - Responsible for problem management, issue resolution, and risk identification/mitigation; lead efforts to optimize cycle time and reduce wait time - all to improve value added time 5 - Vision - articulate a clear view of the application and technology roadmap. coordinate the initiation and planning of diverse projects to meet strategic application and technology roadmap commitments. This project manager will lead the application team responsible for building a 1st-3rd grade supplemental grant program and also building a statewide IEP module within an existing application. II. WORK HOURS AND LOCATION Services shall be provided during normal business hours unless otherwise coordinated through the Texas Education Agency. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays when the agency is closed.
