Role Overview: As the Lead AWS Database Engineer, you will spearhead the design, implementation, and management of scalable, secure, and highly available database solutions on AWS. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure database architectures meet stringent federal security standards and support critical mission objectives. What You'll Do: - You will lead the design and deployment of AWS database services including RDS, DynamoDB, and Aurora. - You will develop and implement database migration strategies to AWS cloud environments. - You will ensure database security, compliance, and performance tuning in line with federal regulations. - You will collaborate with cybersecurity teams to integrate security best practices into database management. - You will troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues to maintain high availability. - You will mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on AWS database technologies. - You will document database architectures, processes, and procedures for audit and operational purposes. - You will stay current with AWS advancements and recommend improvements to database infrastructure. What You Bring: - You bring 5+ years of experience in database engineering with at least 3 years focused on AWS cloud services. - You bring strong expertise in AWS database technologies such as RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora, and Redshift. - You bring hands-on experience with database migration tools and strategies. - You bring solid knowledge of database security, encryption, and compliance standards relevant to federal IT. - You bring proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, and scripting languages like Python or Bash. - You bring excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. - AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect. - Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. - Prior experience working in federal or defense contracting environments.
