Role Overview: As the Lead AWS Database Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing scalable and secure database solutions on AWS. You will lead a team of engineers to ensure high availability, performance, and security of cloud-based databases that support critical federal missions. What You'll Do: - You will design and deploy AWS database architectures including RDS, DynamoDB, and Aurora to meet mission requirements. - You will lead database migration projects from on-premises to AWS cloud environments. - You will implement database security best practices, including encryption, access controls, and compliance with federal regulations. - You will monitor and optimize database performance and scalability. - You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate database solutions with cloud applications and infrastructure. - You will mentor and guide junior database engineers to enhance team capabilities. - You will develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, policies, and procedures. - You will troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues to ensure continuous availability. What You Bring: - Minimum of 7 years of experience in database engineering with at least 4 years focused on AWS cloud services. - Strong expertise in AWS database services such as RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora, and Redshift. - Proficiency in database migration tools and techniques. - Deep understanding of database security, compliance standards, and federal IT requirements. - Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or similar languages. - Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders. Bonus Points If You Have: - AWS Certified Database - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certifications. - Experience working in federal or government IT environments. - Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker. - Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
