Manager, Digital Marketing • Location: Newark, NJ (hybrid on-site and remote hours) • Reports to: Associate Director, Brand and Integrated Marketing • Experience: 7+ years in social media and influencer partnerships; destination marketing experience a plus Role Summary The Manager, Digital Marketing will lead Newark Alliance’s digital storytelling across platforms, elevate the Newark brand, and expand our reach through strategic content and influencer partnerships. This person will drive viewership, engagement, and conversion across key platforms while building collaborative relationships with digital influencers and partner brands. They will identify and foster relationships with relevant individuals and partners, in collaboration with other team members, to promote content and drive engagement with the local communities. Core Responsibilities Social Media Strategy & Execution • Manage Newark Alliance’s suite of social media accounts. • Create and execute content calendars for all platforms, with special emphasis on Newark Happening’s promotional events. • Design organic and paid platform-specific strategies to grow reach, follower base, and engagement. • Monitor and respond to audience engagement, designing and implementing a community management plan. Digital Media • Assist with the management of Newark Alliance’s owned digital platforms (websites, newsletters, etc.), ensuring consistency and strategic differentiation across all channels. • Assist with guiding the development and maintenance of Newark Alliance’s content calendars across all platforms to ensure a cohesive and strategic presence. • Manage SEO strategy for Newark Alliance and Newark Happening websites, optimizing site content and structure, monitoring discoverability performance, and setting clear metrics to track and drive ongoing improvement. • Assist with website maintenance and optimization. Influencer & Brand Partnerships • Identify, evaluate, and build relationships with local, national, and international influencers. • Develop and manage influencer collaboration plans aligned with campaigns and city events. • Negotiate deliverables, timelines, and brand messaging to ensure alignment with Newark Alliance goals. Campaign Development & Integration • Align social media with larger marketing campaigns and cross-department initiatives. • Coordinate with events and marketing teams to amplify promotions across digital channels. • Maintain a consistent brand voice and consumer journey across social touchpoints. Content Creation & Curation • Work with internal teams and creative vendors to produce high-impact content (video, reels, stories, etc.). • Curate user-generated content and manage content permissions. • Ensure all creative reflects Newark’s culture, diversity, and vibrancy. Performance Reporting & Optimization • Track, analyze, and report on platform performance using defined KPIs. • Use insights to guide content improvements, posting schedules, and community engagement. • Provide regular updates to marketing and executive leadership. Preferred Qualifications • 7+ years of experience managing social media accounts and influencer campaigns • Familiarity with destination marketing, economic development and the city of Newark is preferred • Strong visual and editorial judgment; excellent writing and storytelling skills • Proficiency with analytics tools (Meta Insights, Google Analytics, Sprout, Hootsuite, etc.) • Working knowledge of video and graphic editing tools (Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.) • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Demonstrated ability to grow and manage digital communities • Knowledge of Newark’s civic, cultural, and business landscape is a plus Role Assessment Areas • Growth in followers, reach, and engagement across major platforms • Successful execution of influencer partnerships • Quality and relevance of content produced or curated • Integration of social media with marketing campaigns • Performance reporting and optimization aligned with established KPIs About Newark Alliance The Newark Alliance is a nonprofit organization advancing inclusive economic growth and strategic development across Newark, New Jersey.
