This position is at NY Green Bank, a division of NYSERDA. NY Green Bank is a specialized investment fund dedicated to bridging financial gaps and mobilizing private capital to advance the build-out of clean energy and renewable infrastructure in New York State. NY Green Bank collaborates with the private sector to transform financing markets. Job Overview NYGB is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills to work in the critical role of an Analyst or Analyst II on the Investment & Portfolio Management Team. The individual will work with teams across NYGB and NYSERDA to finance renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure transactions within NYGB’s key focus areas that include clean energy generation, energy storage, clean transportation and energy efficiency technologies. The position will involve the structuring, underwriting and execution of bilateral and syndicated project finance loans and management of NY Green Bank existing portfolio. This position will be based in New York City and report to the Managing Director, Head of Investment & Portfolio Management. Primary Responsibilities Candidate will be expected to advance financial, technological and legal due diligence for project finance loans, including origination, diligence, structuring, financial modeling, negotiation, execution and portfolio management. In more detail, candidate will be expected to advance and contribute to the following tasks: * Assess the feasibility and viability of lending opportunities with focus on predevelopment, construction and term loans; * Review construction budgets, sponsor financial statements, and cash flows of the projects to evaluate risks and assess creditworthiness; * Structure and negotiate transaction terms based on established underwriting guidelines in alignment with NY Green Bank’s mission; * Perform financial modeling and analyses of comparable transactions to support investment recommendations; * Collaborate with internal teams, developers and legal counsel as necessary to structure loan agreements and negotiate terms with the counterparty; * Prepare and present credit memoranda and investment summaries for internal review and approval by the NY Green Bank’s Investment and Risk Committee; * Monitor and manage existing loan portfolio, including tracking project performance, covenant compliance, proactively identify and manage potential risks; * Present comprehensive updates on individual transaction performance during monthly and quarterly portfolio reviews. Minimum Qualifications * Analyst ($78,333-$108,413): * A Bachelor’s degree with less than 1-year relevant experience with a demonstrated interest in the energy sector broadly, with a focus on renewable technologies and energy transition * Analyst II ($86,773-$131,298): * A Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of relevant experience with a demonstrated interest in the energy sector broadly, with a focus on renewable technologies and energy transition * Strong analytical and credit skills including ability to analyze financial statements, market data and comparable transactions to draw conclusions and investment recommendations; * Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts and advocate accordingly. * Unparalleled work ethic with the ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines and a willingness to commit substantial time and energy to the success of NYGB’s mission. * Demonstrated ability to work independently and support project team on complex transactions. * Strong sense of professional judgment and ability to solve problems creatively. * Ability to demonstrate respect and inclusive behavior and practices of a diverse workforce and community. * An ability and desire to learn from others.
