Under the direction of Artistic Director Stéphane Denève, its unique fellowship program trains music school graduates for leadership roles in the field of classical music. NWS pursues its work in New World Center (NWC), a Frank Gehry-designed campus that is uniquely suited to embrace the digital future, for education and artistic expression. Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Senior Director of Individual Giving will work with their supervisor, leadership staff, and board members to identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective individual donors in making financial investments in the New World Symphony (NWS). This includes building authentic relationships with individual donors and matching appropriate NWS programs and campaigns to donors’ philanthropic priorities. A key member of the frontline fundraiser team, the Senior Director for Individual Giving will be responsible for securing individual donations of $10,000+ and planned gifts, setting and meeting annual revenue goals, and working with an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects to advance the mission of the organization with a data-driven approach. Outreach will predominantly occur in the Greater Miami area with strategic focus on other cities nationwide.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and implement a strategic gift solicitation plan for renewing and generating new gifts of $10,000 and aboveOversee and expand the organization’s planned giving program, managing donor conversations around bequests, charitable trusts, and other legacy gifts, and ensuring proper documentation and stewardshipCreate donor communication and engagement campaigns based on donor behaviors and interestsBuild ongoing relationships with a portfolio of current donors, develop a pipeline of prospective donors, and solicit and secure gifts verbally, in writing, and in personCollaborate closely with supervisor to strategically engage members of the board development committee and broader trustee group in identifying, cultivating and stewarding individual donors and prospectsMaintain accurate and up-to-date solicitation records in database (moves management)Generate portfolio reports and real-time status updates to provide supervisor and leadership with an accurate portrayal of activity and financial projectionsUtilize NWS database and analytics to inform NWS fundraising strategy, goals, and experimentationDevelop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with other members of the Development department and broader NWS teamWork with colleagues in other departments to stay informed about new programs and changes in existing activitiesActively participate in and contribute to team meetings and leadership meetings as appropriateAttend performances, donor cultivation events, and related community activities, serving as a representative of NWS and contributing to building a pipeline of new prospective donorsAttend and represent NWS at industry-related events in order to stay abreast of emerging trends in fundraisingPerform other job-related duties as assignedQualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of individual fundraising experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be consideredProven track record of securing five- to seven-figure gifts and experience with planned giving vehicles such as bequests, charitable trusts, and beneficiary designationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESHighly collaborative, communicative, and transparent with the ability to build strong and effective internal and external relationshipsHigh level of emotional intelligence and discretion in dealing with confidential donor and estate informationExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage donors.Strong analytical skillsStrong planning and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and donor relationships simultaneouslyAbility to work independently without close supervisionExperience with donor databases; knowledge of Tessitura is an advantageProficient in Microsoft Office applicationsPassion for the mission of the New World Symphony and commitment to its values of community, respect, excellence, accountability, and trustPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekendsAdditional InformationBENEFITS: NWS offers an excellent benefits package to eligible employees including medical, dental, vision, long and short term disability, life and AD&D, 401(k), generous paid time off and comprehensive flexible work arrangements program.EEO STATEMENT: The New World Symphony is an equal opportunity employer.
