(*in collaboration with AbbVie) About the Role: The Medical Director of Medical Affairs (MA) is responsible for the development of medical strategies and execution of tactics related to the company’s strategy for assigned projects. This is an expert scientific and medical position focused on providing leadership and core medical deliverables for assigned pipeline molecules. As such the position will require a deep understanding of neuroscience/psychiatry and of driving projects in a matrix organization. The primary focus is the development and accountability for core MA deliverables, such as scientific exchange, evidence generation, strategic oversight, pull through of scientific communication and developing the strategic communication drivers and the scientific narrative aligned with corporate goals and brand strategy. The Medical Director must embody strong leadership, organizational and communication skills, be compliant with company SOPs, be self-motivated and pay attention to detail and timely completion of assignments while keeping an eye on the bigger picture. Broad cross-functional collaboration, ability to effectively partner with both internal and external stakeholders under business acumen are highly desirable. _ Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to): The position is accountable for maintaining strong scientific disease, treatment and competitive landscape knowledge and leading cross-functional partnership to achieve numerous business goals by: Planning and execution of an integrated medical strategy for assigned molecules that address current and future needs of the business Leading the overall strategy integration of core workstreams, such as the Scientific Communication Platform (SCP), overseeing strategic communication through publications and presentations Leading/co-leading tactical execution of the Integrated Evidence Generation Planning (IEGP) process Communicating the aligned MA strategy to and collaborate with Field Medical functions, including leveraging key field generated actionable insights and overall support regional needs Working closely with clinical development, HEOR, medical communications, commercial partners, etc. to co-create and support value drivers, market access, and launch preparedness activities broadly Developing and supporting the expert engagement plan and overall scientific communication strategy, including medical congress content, authorship and reviews of abstracts and manuscripts Requirements: Requires an advanced degree (MD, PharmD and/or PhD in neuroscience) Psychiatry/ neuroscience experience 7+ years from working in medical affairs/ clinical development and or academia or as a clinician is preferred Experience with strategic evidence and scientific communication planning process are desirable Experience with medical affairs strategic and tactical planning for pipeline and/or marketed products required Strong collaborative, interpersonal and team interactions skills, experience working in a cross-functional team environment and ability to execute a must High degree of professionalism, integrity and agility required Comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities Ability to travel required (~20%) #LI-KM1 Neurocrine Biosciences is an EEO/Disability/Vets employer. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program.
