At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next. About the Role You will be a vital member of our Live Broadcast Engineering team, responsible for providing specialized support across Netflix’s owned infrastructure, specifically the Live Ingest Points of Presence (LiPoP) and Broadcast Operations Center (BOC). This is a critical role to ensure the reliability of our live resources for an expanding slate of live events; you will provide engineering support for recurring series and standalone events based on a variable schedule, ensuring the health and operation of our proprietary LiPoP backend. Responsibilities You will focus heavily on internal infrastructure support, real-time response, and facility readiness: Act as Tier 1 support for live event technical issues, including day-of-show and test-day operations at LiPoP and BOC facilities. Provide frontline support for key LiPoP infrastructure and broadcast equipment, including: Video routers and routing systems (including 2110-based routing) Audio mixers Contribution and distribution encoders Up/down/cross converters Support intercom systems, including configuration and allocation of intercom resources based on daily event needs. Assist with orchestration validations for daily events to confirm signal paths and system readiness prior to going live. Provide real-time troubleshooting, triage, and technical decision-making in coordination with the broader Live Streaming Technology and Broadcast Operations teams. Support both cloud-based and hardware-based video infrastructure, including analysis, fault isolation, and remediation of issues across the end-to-end video workflow. Develop, update, and maintain live system documentation, operational runbooks, and standard operating procedures for use by operations teams. Oversee control room setups for daily shows, ensuring all critical systems are online, correctly configured, and monitored. Maintain and support the physical facility and technical spaces associated with LiPoP and BOC operations. Assist in managing and assigning technical resources for daily shows as needed, helping to balance capacity across multiple events. Perform operational maintenance (e.g., intercom and router panels, multiviewers, video monitors, and associated broadcast infrastructure) during off-hours or planned maintenance windows. Troubleshoot Tier 1 network issues within the BOC and LiPoP environments, escalating to network engineering as appropriate. Serve as “smart hands” for network and infrastructure-related work, including racking/stacking gear, patching, basic hardware checks, and assisting remote engineers with on-site tasks. Qualifications 5+ years of broadcast support experience (preferably as an EIC at the network level). Strong understanding of digital audio/video fundamentals, compression technologies, distribution formats, and knowledge of remote production facilities and equipment vendors. Prior experience in a Broadcast Operations Center (BOC), Master Control, live events facility, or similar environment. Experience working with orchestration systems for signal routing and validation in live workflows. Familiarity with IP-based media transport (e.g., SMPTE 2110, 2022-6, NDI, SRT, RIST, Zixi, etc.). Experience supporting large-scale live streaming or OTT platforms. Background in facility maintenance for broadcast environments, including monitoring system health and coordinating repairs. Experience with monitoring and alerting tools for video, audio, and network systems. Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work closely with operations, engineering, and live streaming teams. Willingness to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and off-hours maintenance windows, aligned with live event schedules. Close attention to detail and reliability, particularly when managing concurrent events and critical infrastructure. Nice to have Experience with at least one programming language (Java, Go, Python). Experience in Unix (or Unix-based systems), shell scripting, and good SQL knowledge. Experience with web technologies and distributed systems with microservices architecture. Experience managing cloud infrastructure, preferably in AWS. Degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Media Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
