Requirements

Candidates should have 3+ years of professional experience in product design and experience designing native mobile applications. Proficiency with Figma and familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards are also required.

NerdWallet is looking for a Product Designer to join the team as we continue to build out our features and consumer experiences. In this role, you will be responsible for the design ideation and delivery for one of the User Engagement pods. This role will work closely with a variety of team members from engineering, product management, quality assurance, and program management to evolve the Nerdwallet App experience and design language. You will report to a Product Design Manager. Where you can make an impact: Uplevel our design language: Lead efforts to define and evolve the visual and interaction patterns that make the NerdWallet mobile experience uniquely Nerdy Scale design through systems: Expand and maintain a robust library of components, and documentation that empower designers and product teams to move faster with consistency and confidence Craft a world-class mobile experience: Deliver intuitive, delightful, and impactful native app experiences that meet the evolving needs of our users Design with empathy: Elevate the quality of product design through a deep understanding of NerdWallet’s audience and their needs Be Nerdy: Embrace our mission to empower people and change the way they think about their finances You are: A strong design & systems thinker: You design with the big picture in mind, so your solutions can be re-utilized and expanded upon for additional use cases A strong visual designer: You’ve got a sharp eye for UI, animations, and visual design Comfortable working iteratively: You know how to scope design so your small, cross-functional team can deliver impact on schedule Detail oriented: You notice the small things and care about getting every pixel, state, and interaction just right An enthusiastic collaborator: you know how to build cross-disciplinary support in order to achieve exceptional experiences Data-driven: You leverage qualitative and quantitative insights to inform and explain your decisions A motivated Product Designer: You understand the craft and are always working toward improving your interaction and visual design skills Perpetually curious: You’re passionate about new technologies, industry trends, and relevant artifacts Your experience: 3+ years of professional experience in product design Experience designing native mobile applications (iOS and Android) Experience contributing to design system component libraries and style guide documentation Proficiency with Figma and its library features like components, tokens, and variables Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards Ability to utilize research and data to drive design decisions Pay Transparency & Contract Details: The hourly rate for this position is $45 - $60/hour This is a W2 contract role The estimated schedule for this engagement would be 40 hours per week for at least 6 months
