Position Summary:As the VP of Laboratory IT, you will play a critical role in leading and implementing digital technologies that directly enable business outcomes including increased lab productivity, improved turnaround times, and enhanced patient impact. The role involves strong communication and collaboration with Laboratory Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and R&D, in a fast-paced Oncology diagnostic environment to gather business and functional requirements, deliver and support applications and technology solutions that improve our laboratory’s operational processes, scalability and growth. You will be accountable for architecting, testing and documenting system changes as required by standards. Your ability to translate requirements in partnership with stakeholders into robust automated, innovative solutions will be essential in this role. Expertise in CLIA/CAP is required. and You will act as a change leader, cross functionally collaborating to ensure adoption and optimization of digital solutions across the organization. Must be located or commutable to: Ramsey, NJ, Raleigh, NC, Ft Myers FL, or Aliso Viejo CACore Responsibilities: • Responsible for the implementation and support of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), partnering closely with laboratory operations across the total testing process. This includes systems analysis, process and procedure co-creation, automation ideation and deployment, customized reports, modifications, user account management, barcode/printer management, and upkeep of systems administration • Charged with Technology strategy and execution for leveraging the use of data, AI and modern LIMS capabilities to drive efficiency, quality, scalability of solutions and positive end user experience, leveraging best practices • Act as Technology business partner to Lab Operations, production engineering and other laboratory teams • Lead a team of technology professionals across software development, implementation, and support including IT business analysts, project managers, and developers • Lead laboratory projects impacting programs and projects, in close collaboration with operational and other digital technology and foundational technology leaders • Ensure effective support for LIMS Super Users, LIMS Admins, offshore support and Help Desk for laboratory applications • Drive and support data integrity processes and validations for all laboratory related software applications • Collaborate with lab technology equipment and Operations teams to manage equipment lifecycles • Collaborate with the QA department to support the accreditation processes through validation activities • Partner with Laboratory leaders to develop technology enablement and deployment of Standard Operating Procedures, user guides, and other relevant documentation for the LIMS and related applications • Collaborate across DTS on business requirements to ensure end-to-end architected solutions, adequate infrastructure support, and upgrade planning • Participate in internal and external audit reviews of systems • Lead laboratory systems upgrades and maintenance on a frequent and recurring basis while complying with applicable regulatory requirements • Responsible for vendor management, including leading vendors on implementation, upgrades, modifications, and other laboratory business needs • Provide high-level project management for LIMS projects using best practices for software development, architecture, structured change management processes, change control, and security • Manage effective data exchange between LIMS and all lab instruments and other associated systems • Direct and control the strategic software roadmap to balance enterprise goals and ensure alignment to growth and scalability goals, and patient outcomes • Accountable for budget management for Laboratory technology investments and platform lifecycle needs • Provide leadership in problem solving, requiring the consideration of the DTS strategic plan and short-term goals, analysis of solution options, and development and execution of associated action plans Experience, Education and Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent experience in an Information Technology environment • A minimum of 15 years’ experience working within a regulated setting (Laboratory, Quality, Manufacturing, IT) is required • Must have exposure to a broad group of Laboratory software systems and demonstrate command of the Laboratory software marketplace, software capabilities and functionality, and competitive differences between software packages • Must be able to demonstrate full understanding and knowledge of how Laboratory systems work, including LIMS, and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the systems architecture and data elements underlying these systems • Systems discipline as an Information Technology Analyst, process or business analysis, or a related function performing installation, development, and maintenance of the business application software and servers, including the development of associated metadata and user interfaces. Inclusive of change management and end user training • Preferred working and contemporary knowledge of Sapio, Labware LIMS, Labvantage LIMS, Openlab ECM, IDBS ELN, Labware ELN, Chromelion, Empower, and numerous other chemical and microbiology laboratory devices and systems • Demonstrated experience and competency in understating the application of CSV and ALCOA+ regulations to laboratory systems • Support large scale complex software application(s); successful LIMS or large ERP implementation experience preferred • Demonstrates analytical expertise to assist with problem determination and solution across the enterprise solution environment • Collaborative mindset, requiring expert communication and negotiating skills, comfortable leading critical or controversial change and transformation discussions • Effectively manage, mentor, and grow a global team • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities under tight timelines • Ability to translate requirements in partnership with stakeholders into robust automated, innovative solutions • Expertise in CLIA/CAP is required Travel: 20-25% (higher during implementation periods)
