Assistant Director / Program Coordinator – Nature’s Lab School (Carmichael, CA) Pay: $25.00 – $32.00 per hour (DOE) Location: Carmichael, CA (Sacramento County) Job Type: Full-time About Nature’s Lab At Nature’s Lab School, childhood is guided by curiosity, connection, and kindness. Our bilingual (Spanish–English) outdoor preschool serves children ages 2–6 through play-based learning rooted in community, respect, and understanding. We’re seeking an Assistant Director / Program Coordinator to help our team bring this philosophy to life each day. This role focuses on supporting teachers, enhancing curriculum, and strengthening family partnerships while ensuring our program reflects Nature’s Lab’s values across every classroom and outdoor space. Why You’ll Love Working at Nature’s Lab Exceptionally low student–teacher ratios (half of Title 22 requirements A reflective, supportive, and growth-oriented team culture Bilingual program celebrating diversity and inclusion Beautiful outdoor classrooms and gardens that inspire creativity A community where educators are seen, valued, and supported What You’ll Do As Assistant Director / Program Coordinator, you will: • Support teachers in designing developmentally appropriate, nature-based, and bilingual learning experiences • Guide classroom setup and learning area design aligned with our philosophy • Provide coaching, feedback, and modeling of best practices in outdoor and social–emotional education • Help identify and coordinate staff professional development and trainings • Facilitate family education events and contribute to parent communication strategies • Collaborate on curriculum planning, documentation, and reflective meetings • Ensure that our values of kindness, curiosity, and respect are woven into every interaction This is a collaborative leadership position designed to strengthen the team and uphold quality standards. The current Director remains actively involved, while this new role ensures continuous, on-site support for teachers and families. Qualifications Must meet one of the following Title 22 Director qualification paths: • Option 1: 15 units in ECE/CD (including required courses in Development, Curriculum, Community, and Administration) + 4 years of experience • Option 2: AA/AS in ECE/CD + 2 years of experience • Option 3: BA/BS in ECE/CD + 1 year of experience • Option 4: Site Supervisor or Director Permit (California Commission on Teacher Credentialing) Additional Requirements: • TB clearance, health screening, Mandated Reporter training, MMR & Tdap • Strong understanding of Title 22 and licensing compliance • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills • Passion for outdoor learning and social–emotional development • Familiarity with Conscious Discipline or CSEFEL (preferred) • Bilingual English–Spanish (preferred) Schedule & Compensation • Full-time, Monday–Friday (8-hour shifts between 7:30 AM–5:00 PM) • Pay: $25–$32/hour, based on experience and education • Anticipated start: within 4–6 weeks Benefits • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance • 401(k) with employer matching • Paid holidays and seasonal school breaks • Tuition reimbursement and professional development support • Employee discounts • A caring, family-like environment where educators thrive How to Apply If you believe in leadership grounded in curiosity, kindness, and understanding — and you’re ready to support teachers in creating meaningful, nature-based learning experiences — we’d love to meet you.
