Requires 2+ years CNC programming and supervisory experience, proficiency with SolidWorks, CAMWorks, G-code, and strong machining knowledge.
Commercial Fluid Power, a subsidiary of the National Tube Supply Company, specializing in supplying machining services to the fluid power industry is in search of a hands on CNC Manager reporting to our Dover, OH location. This individual is responsible for the profitable operations of our CNC department. We currently have openings for the following shift: Days (8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday) Responsibilities: • Supervision of ~10 union CNC machinists across multiple shifts - includes interviewing, hiring, scheduling, performance management, discipline, daily assistance, and training • Scheduling for CNC department - includes reviewing overall plant & CNC workload, due dates, and machine and manpower availability; make recommendations for outsourcing when necessary to meet delivery requirements • Programming 3 & 4-axis CNC lathes and mills - includes interpreting drawings; modeling using SolidWorks; programming using CAMWorks; building setup & tooling sheets; optimizing tool paths and cutting parameters; testing & debugging programs on the machines; cataloging, updating, and organizing programs • Ensure equipment is maintained – includes submitting maintenance work orders; recommending preventative maintenance for machinery; coordinating machine downtime for maintenance, enforcing proper care and cleanliness of equipment • Manage expendable tooling – includes managing the availability, organization, and cataloging of expendable tooling; ensuring operators have the necessary tooling for the job; ordering tooling; managing vendor relationships • Optimize programming workflows - includes building out CAM database for different materials, tooling, and feeds and speeds; modifying post processors; leveraging automation where possible • Develop robust training plans to maximize training efficiency and reduce the amount of time it takes a new hire to operate on their own • Recommend and update procedures to improve operational costs and quality • Improve department profitability through continuous improvement initiatives • Participate in the purchase of new CNC equipment – includes participation in allocating CapEx budget; advising on vendors, types of machinery, features, and tooling; assist with project management for install and commissioning • Participate in safety committee and enforce safety procedures • Participate in quoting of new jobs by reviewing prints, recommending efficient setups, and estimating machining & setup times Qualifications: Required: • 2+ years of hands-on CNC programming experience preferably with 4-axis lathes. • 2+ years of supervisory experience in an industrial environment. • 2+ years of project management experience in an industrial environment. • Ability to read complex engineering drawings and understand GD&T. • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks). • Proficiency in CAM software (CAMWorks). • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. • Knowledge of G-code and M-code for common CNC controls (Fanuc, Haas). • Excellent organizational skills. • Experience with CNC setup, including tooling and fixture selection. • Strong understanding of machining best practices, tolerances, and materials. • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues on the shop floor. • Knowledge of lean practices and continuous improvement strategies. Preferred: • 2+ year Engineering degree. • Experience with computer programming and automation. • Familiarity with prototype and small-batch production.
