Join this fun industry and help spread the word about boating and life on the water. NMMA has a unique opportunity for a Sales Manager – Minneapolis Boat Show and Chicago Boat Show. This role is for someone who will manage the sales process to achieve space sales budget goals for the Minneapolis Boat Show and support the exhibit space sales for the Chicago Boat Show. The candidate should be able to develop relationships with customers, service providers, and key recreational marine industry stakeholders. Prospect and cultivate new business opportunities. Work with the budget manager to ensure P&L goals are achieved. Provide on-site event set up and support for the show. You would also be willing to work cross-functionally, be adaptable, and have excellent communication skills. At NMMA, we connect consumers with the recreational boating industry through our Discover Boating campaign and our Boat Shows. We also serve our members and industry audience through Government Relations, Business Intelligence, and Certification divisions. This role will report to the Vice President of Midwest Boat & Sportshows and Show Manager - Chicago Boat Show. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Exhibit sales, space allocation, customer service and contract negotiations. • Prospect new customers to increase space sales and revenue. • Create space sales collateral pieces and customer correspondence. • Profit and loss accountability, including creating and managing the budget. • Develop, manage, and maintain event floor plans. • Initiate payment and deadline reminders correspondence to exhibiting companies. • Collecting all contracts and balances. • Work with the Show Manager to support goals, fulfill responsibilities and functions of the show. • Offer support in managing service contractors, including contract negotiations and staffing. • Involved in developing strategic integrated marketing plans, including print, broadcast and electronic promotional materials. • Involved in Public Relations strategy including press kits, newsletters and cross-promotion with exhibitors. • Assist with special events including conception, execution, and promotions. • Involvement in the marine industry on local, state, and national levels. • Public speaking and media interviews. • On-site operational set up for the Midwest Region events including: • Support Operations with event floor management. • On-site facilitator of exhibitors’ requirements. • Manage service contractors, labor unions, exposition companies, as well as convention center management staff. • Liaison between exhibitors and show management as well as any other service providers. REQUIREMENTS/CREDENTIALS: • Conduct business in accordance with our core values. • Bachelor’s degree preferred, emphasis on business or related discipline preferred. • Minimum of five years sales experience, preferably in event exhibitions, or the recreational marine industry. • Excellent verbal and written skills required as well as negotiation skills. • Customer focused, organized, outgoing, assertive, and detail oriented. • Self-motivated, resourceful, and a team player. • Experience with MS Office required. • Word processing, spreadsheet and data entry skills required. • Holiday and Overtime may be required • 15%-25% travel throughout the year COMPENSATION, BENEFITS, etc. • Market competitive compensation • Office/Remote Hybrid environment As a member of this team, you will receive a competitive salary, full benefits, 401k, summer hours, and more!
