Job Details Job Location: Arlington, VA 22201 Position Type: Part Time Salary Range: $34.00 Hourly Position Summary The Junior Data Analyst supports the Director of Data Management by performing routine and ad-hoc data analysis, reporting, and data quality activities across the organization. This role is responsible for transforming raw data into usable insights, maintaining dashboards and reports, and ensuring data accuracy to support operational, financial, and strategic decision-making. The position focuses on execution and analysis, while strategic data governance, architecture, and long-term analytics planning remain with the Director. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Data Analysis & Reporting Collect, clean, validate, and analyze data from multiple internal systems (e.g., CRM, HRIS, finance, event platforms). Develop and maintain standard reports, dashboards, and data summaries for leadership and department stakeholders. Support recurring reporting cycles (monthly, quarterly, annual) related to operations, membership, events, finance, and workforce metrics. Respond to ad-hoc data requests and translate business questions into basic analytical outputs. Dashboard & Tool Support Maintain and update dashboards and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar). Ensure dashboards are accurate, timely, and aligned with definitions and metrics established by the Director. Assist with documentation of metrics, definitions, and reporting logic. Data Quality & Integrity Perform data validation and quality checks to identify inconsistencies, missing data, or anomalies. Assist with data cleanup initiatives and ongoing data hygiene efforts. Flag data risks or inconsistencies and escalate issues to the Director as appropriate. Operational & Cross-Functional Support Partner with internal teams (HR, Finance, Membership, Events, IT, Marketing) to understand data needs and reporting requirements. Support process improvements by identifying trends, inefficiencies, or data gaps. Assist with testing, data migration, or system enhancements as new tools or processes are implemented. Administrative & Project Support Maintain data documentation, report inventories, and analysis files. Support the Director with special projects, pilot analyses, and data preparation for executive presentations. Follow established data governance, security, and confidentiality standards. Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, Business, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 0–3 years of experience in a data analyst, reporting analyst, or similar entry-level analytics role. Internship or project-based analytics experience preferred. Technical Skills Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data validation). Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar). Basic experience with SQL or relational databases preferred. Familiarity with data cleaning, normalization, and reporting best practices. Analytical & Professional Skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Ability to interpret data and communicate findings clearly to non-technical audiences. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Willingness to learn and grow under the guidance of a senior data leader.
