The Operations Manager for our Government team works with the Operations team to quote, route and book shipments to meet their customer's needs. We are looking for candidates with International Air Export operations management experience specializing in military air tenders and understands the challenges of moving mission-critical cargo. This manager will oversee all personnel and processes of our government team in our Buffalo and Houston offices. Essential Functions: • Responsible for daily operations of the Air Export Operations team and influencing all team members to deliver service results that meet the needs of customers • Work closely with team to train and develop superior air export operation processes and procedures following "The National Way" • Have a comprehensive understanding of the regulations governing the air transportation of hazardous materials and lithium batteries. Be familiar with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Technical Instructions and the applicable provisions of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) and stay updated on any changes or amendments to these regulations • Experience with air tender and Global Heavyweight Shipments Contracts • Familiar with military and government defense cargo • Maintain a high standard of organizational culture, values and reputation, among employees, suppliers and regulatory/official bodies. • Manage according to lawful and ethical standards. • Creates shipments by determining the best value routing in order to provide the service level required. • Act as authorized representative of National Air Cargo in negotiating with airlines, pickup agents, delivery agents, etc. • Ensure best customer service and business practice at all times. • Ensures all shipments are rated properly for billing purposes. • Ensures integrity of data entered into the LOGIX system. Competencies: • Familiarity with GHS system and government shipment bidding • Knowledge of Export, Import, and Domestic shipping procedures • Working knowledge of Tenders and Service contracts and related requirements. • Expertise with government regulations related to international shipping. • Ability to work in an environment with time critical situations requiring sense of urgency and multi-tasking. • Strong interpersonal communication skills . • Able to negotiate effectively • Strong management & leadership skills. • Strong organizational and customer service skills are required. • Proven knowledge of shipment processing and problem resolution, able to achieve customer satisfaction, in difficult situations. • Must be able to demonstrate an ongoing positive attitude that will be viewed as a professional role model for others Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field preferred • Graduate degree a plus. • Five years experience managing staff including team leaders. • Five years freight forwarding specializing in ITAR and Military cargo • ISO 9001 Quality Management experience a plus Job Type: Full-time Pay: $75,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year Benefits: • 401(k) • 401(k) matching • Dental insurance • Employee assistance program • Flexible spending account • Health insurance • Life insurance • Paid time off • Vision insurance Application Question(s): • Are you familiar with the GHS System and bidding through the GFM board Education: • Bachelor's (Required) Experience: • Operations management: 5 years (Required) Ability to Commute: • Houston, TX 77032 (Required) Work Location: In person
