This is not a full-time remote position and requires working two days per week (or as needed) in the Nashville, TN office. Job Summary This is the highest IT leadership role for NASBA. The CIO has ownership of the establishment and execution of the enterprise-wide IT strategy and ensures its integration with NASBA’s business strategy, and the delivery of all information and technology capabilities required to achieve business capability performance success. The CIO participates in and contributes to the overall enterprise business model, operating model, and business strategy development. The CIO brings a current knowledge and future vision of leveraging information and technology in business model design, business capability performance re-engineering, product and service development, and support for NASBA’s mission. The CIO at NASBA is responsible for the following key functional areas. • IT Strategy and Executive Leadership • IT Outsourcing Relationship Management • IT Operations • Technical Leadership • Other duties as assigned Primary Responsibilities and Activities IT Strategy and Executive Leadership • Define NASBA's IT strategy in the form of an annual work plan, contributing to and aligning with NASBA's business strategy objectives, participating in risk management and compliance activities, overall project portfolio management, and leading IT governance processes. • In support of the enterprise mission, determine the operating model for information and technology to foster business-oriented and digital-ready culture, mindsets, and practices. • Establish active relationships with C-level executives and business unit leaders and members of their teams. Contributes as a business executive. Act as a trusted advisor to ensure all executive leaders can, with the CIO, make confident decisions about the application of information and technology (IT) within their units and across the enterprise. • Collaborate with executive leadership and business partners to define and execute the digital business strategy. Participate in and contribute to the assessment of external digital opportunities and threats, and internal technology capabilities required to achieve desired competitive positioning. • Serve on enterprise planning and policymaking committees. Drive the development of enterprise technology standards, governance processes and performance metrics to ensure IT delivers value to the enterprise. Manage risks through the effective design, delivery and management of IT capabilities for the enterprise. IT Outsourcing Relationship Management • NASBA's technology function is outsourced. As such, a crucial responsibility for this role is attending to all aspects of that relationship. Effective communication is essential. • Work with outsourcing providers to develop and maintain an IT workforce with the appropriate mix of business knowledge, technical skills, and competencies. • Track and report to NASBA leadership on the Bank of Hours which is the current pool of hours for getting projects initiated and completed. Do the same for Strategic Technology Projects. • Review the quarterly payment invoices and cost elements to ensure accuracy. This includes the payment schedule for the software development, infrastructure, and security elements of service along with the associated Additional Recourse Charge and Reduction Resource Charge (ARC and RRCs) that drive cost. • Monitor and manage Service Level Agreement (SLAs), Operational Incident Management (IMCs) and Security Incident Management. • Ensure that periodic quarterly meetings are conducted with the primary outsourcing provider with NASBA leadership to address accomplishments, challenges, and the on-going relationship. • Balance the need for growing the agility required to achieve digital business objectives, with ensuring the core IT functions are secure, reliable, stable, and efficient. • Ensure IT capabilities are delivered reliably, sustainably, cost effectively and securely. Ensure the IT contributions are delivered with agility based on changing business objectives, goals and strategies. • Direct the development of the IT sourcing strategy and provide executive oversight for strategic vendor and partner relationship management. IT Operations • Oversee the IT operations of programs and projects while maintaining the goal of delivering value of applications and infrastructure efforts on time and on budget. Manage IT contract vendor and services. Provide leadership to the IT staff. • Develop and control annual operating and capital expenditure budget for IT to ensure the investment in technologies is consistent with the enterprise's overall strategic objectives and is within plan. • Oversee new applications and product and service contracts renewals. Ensure that these services are adequately planned for and executed within the annual IT budget. Monitor the risk of the varied number of unsupported applications and strategize with leadership on when and how to address this gap. • Work with the COO to draft and support the annual NASBA fiscal year budget. Monitor the approved budget in detail to ensure that overruns are avoided. • Work with the IT staff to ensure they understand their value and goal expectations. Provide on-going training and regular updates and feedback on initiatives and projects. Technical Leadership • This area includes monitoring the health of NASBA's cloud and on-premises technical environments and understanding how all NASBA's software and systems function. • Maintain currency on new technologies and platforms. Provide direction on emerging technologies that should be assimilated, integrated and introduced within the enterprise to ensure IT capabilities respond to the needs of the enterprise's digital business strategy. Provide strategic direction in the IT organization's innovation efforts and role in experimenting with new solutions to take advantage of those opportunities in the fulfillment of the enterprise's digital business strategy. • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, operation and support of IT systems and programs that fulfill the needs of the business, including enterprise architecture management, application management, security and risk management, and infrastructure and operations support management. • Lead the establishment and execution of a digital workplace strategy that enables the development of digital dexterity in the workforce. Ensure employees have the tools and work environment to be more engaged, productive, and effective.
