Full Description

About the Role As the blood fluidics designer at NanoCure AI, you will lead the design, modeling, and implementation of the extracorporeal blood-handling system that forms the foundation of our therapy platform. This includes designing sealed multi-lane microchannel cartridges, patient-safe manifolds, bubble detection and bypass pathways, and mechanisms for controlling flow rate, shear stress, and dwell time for real-time imaging and actuation. You will collaborate directly with the founding team, including the AI/vision lead, optical lead, and nanomaterials lead, to deliver a tightly integrated fluidic solution that supports cell-level detection and clearance workflows. Your work ensures patient safety, biocompatibility, and scalability as the platform grows from an MVP pod to a full clinical device. This is a high-impact, hands-on founder role that combines fluidics innovation with regulatory discipline. Responsibilities Pre-Funding: • Be available for all investor facing meeting Post-Funding: • Evaluate vendors for pumps, valves, tubing, sensors, and sterilizable materials for blood-contact systems. • Define flow requirements (velocity, shear, dwell) in collaboration with AI/optical teams to align with imaging and actuation performance. • Contribute to architectural decisions around cartridge design, lane geometry, bypass, and disposable vs reusable components. • Lead development of a sealed, disposable blood-handling cartridge with multi-channel arrays and patient-safe connections. • Design pressure, bubble, and temperature sensing modules with automatic bypass to protect patients. • Optimize manifold geometry for uniform distribution across dozens of lanes, ensuring laminar flow and low extracorporeal volume. • Collaborate with AI and optics teams to synchronize flow control with imaging and actuation events (e.g., stop-flow gating). • Establish sterilization protocols and fluidics validation methods to support regulatory readiness. • Develop in-lab test rigs for flow simulation, ΔP measurement, and biocompatibility checks. What We're Looking For • Proven experience in blood-contact fluidics, microfluidics, or extracorporeal systems (dialysis, apheresis, perfusion, or similar). • Strong foundation in fluid dynamics: laminar flow, shear stress management, ΔP modeling, and manifold distribution. • Hands-on experience designing and validating sterile fluid paths with integrated sensors and valves. • Familiarity with medical device blood-contact materials (e.g., COC, PMMA, silicone, heparinized coatings). • Ability to bridge patient safety requirements with engineering design constraints. • Comfortable working cross-functionally with AI, optics, and nanotech engineers. Nice to Have • Prior work in dialysis, leukapheresis, ECMO, or blood diagnostics devices. • Experience with ISO 10993 biocompatibility testing and EtO/Gamma sterilization. • Background in disposable cartridge design or high-volume sterile consumables. • Familiarity with regulatory design controls for extracorporeal blood systems (ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11/Part 820). Compensation • Pre-Funding: Up to 5% equity (no vesting). • Post-Funding: $175,000 Base & up to $300,000 in Year 1, based on milestone delivery.
