Assist dentist during surgical procedures, prepare operatory and instruments, take radiographic images, manage patient comfort, and provide post-operative care.
Must have 1 year surgical dental assisting experience and X-Ray certification, with ability to assist in complex surgical dental procedures.
Surgical Dental Assistant needed 3 days a week. MUST HAVE SURGICAL ASSISTING EXPERIENCE Responsibilities/Duties: 1. Clinical Chairside Assistance • Assist the Dentist during surgical and non-surgical procedures, including: • Extractions • Implants • All on 4 and All on X procedures. • Root canal treatments and retreatments • Microsurgical procedures • Maintain a sterile field and proper infection control protocols. • Hand instruments and materials in correct sequence and anticipate procedural needs. • Proficient in using Intra oral scanners like ITERO and Prime scan. • Must maintain well communication with lab and dental office regarding pending lab cases. • Must be able to work with Anesthesiologist during surgical procedures. • Willing to start early or late in the evenings as surgical procedures demand. • Must have an understanding of the surgical procedures and be able to explain and educate patients about the surgical procedures. • Must have knowledge of the Dentures and lab work related to Dentures. • Compassionate and caring. 2. Operatory Preparation & Turnover • Prepare operatory and surgical trays with appropriate instruments, materials, and equipment before procedures. • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments following OSHA and CDC guidelines. • Stock and organize supplies for efficiency and infection control. 3. Radiographic & Imaging Support • Take digital periapical and CBCT images as directed by the provider. • Ensure high-quality diagnostic imaging using proper positioning, shielding, and software settings. 4. Surgical Equipment Handling • Set up and position Implant motors, surgical microscopes, ultrasonic units, and micro-instruments. • Calibrate and maintain surgical tools. 5. Patient Management & Comfort • Prepare patients for treatment (e.g., reviewing medical history, explaining procedures). • Provide reassurance and manage patient anxiety during surgical procedures. • Monitor patient vitals as needed (with appropriate training/certification). 6. Documentation & Charting • Accurately chart procedures, treatment notes, and materials used in the practice management software. • Update patient records with surgical observations and post-op instructions. 7.
