The role involves designing and implementing simulation models for warehouse systems and developing new simulation capabilities within the internal simulation platform. Additionally, the engineer will conduct structured simulation experiments and contribute to core simulation platform development.
Candidates should have 3+ years of relevant experience and strong proficiency in Python, along with experience in discrete-event simulation or large-scale systems modeling. Solid engineering fundamentals and the ability to communicate insights clearly are also required.
About the role: You’ll build the simulation engines and models that drive our warehouse automation strategy. This role blends software engineering, simulation, and systems modeling: you’ll design new capabilities, validate control policies, and help shape how our robots, storage logic, and orchestration behave at scale. You’ll partner closely with engineering and product teams to turn open-ended questions into quantitative answers and production-ready tools. Responsibilities: Design and implement simulation models for warehouse systems, including autonomous vehicle travel, storage policies, SKU zoning, and pallet/tray retrieval flows. Develop new simulation capabilities (Discrete event simulations components, routing logic, orchestration modules, etc.) within our internal simulation platform. Work closely with Software, Solutions, and Product to prototype, test, and iterate on control policies. Conduct structured simulation experiments, analyze results, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for product and operational strategy. Contribute to core simulation platform development—model APIs, architecture, performance improvements, data pipelines, and automation tools. Build repeatable modeling workflows, scenario configurations, and validation frameworks to ensure consistency across simulation studies. Qualifications: 3+ years of industry or relevant experience Strong proficiency in Python, including object-oriented design and building production-grade code. Experience with discrete-event simulation, probabilistic modeling, or large-scale systems modeling. Ability to design experiments, analyze data, and communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. Solid engineering fundamentals (systems thinking, algorithmic reasoning, version control, testing). Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience in simulation engineering or modeling/operations research teams. Familiarity with DES frameworks (SimPy, salabim, internal engines, or equivalent). Background in warehouse automation, robotics, manufacturing systems, industrial engineering, or related fields. Experience with data visualization (Plotly, Matplotlib, Dash, etc.) Experience contributing to simulation platforms, modeling libraries, or internal tooling. A Final Note: You’re encouraged to apply even if you can’t take on every example project in its totality. We work closely and collaboratively at Mytra - No one takes on projects alone. We seek people who are eager to work together, learn new things, and bring unique perspectives. Benefits Include: Competitive compensation + equity grants at a high growth company backed by top tier VCs Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), commuter benefits, and pet insurance Lively modern combined office and lab space where we rapidly iterate through design, build and test phases Lunch and snacks provided in the office; we eat and share stories together at the “long” table Flexible hours and flexible PTO Pay Notice: Compensation for this position will be negotiated based on the candidate's experience level and location. The posted salary band is applicable only to the San Francisco Bay Area and is subject to change.
