Are you a problem-solver looking to make a real impact? Motion is looking for a software engineer (full-stack) to join our Product Engineering team. You’ll be a key contributor to our web applications and the backend systems that power them, delivering core features to help patients navigate and manage their care journey while empowering our clinical team to deliver the best possible care. What You’ll Do: Work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, clinical experts and product managers to design, build and maintain the web applications and backend systems that power our provider- and patient-facing experiences Contribute to the team’s operational excellence goals, including improving our testing practices, deployment tools and monitoring capabilities, and participating in the on-call rotation Assist in developing and maintaining the cloud infrastructure hosting our backend systems, with a focus on security and simplicity Take ownership of features and components, from implementation to deployment What You Bring to the Table: 3+ years professional experience with Kotlin or Java (Kotlin preferred) 2+ years building production web applications with React and TypeScript/JavaScript Understanding of cloud infrastructure fundamentals (AWS experience is a plus) Eagerness to work collaboratively alongside a team of skilled engineers and learn from senior team members A growth mindset, continuously looking for opportunities to learn and improve your skills Must be based in the United States and eligible to work without restriction or the need for employer sponsorship at any time The Nice-to-Haves: Experience with any of the technologies we use at Motion: Backend: Kotlin, Spring Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform Frontend: React, Typescript, Material UI APIs: GraphQL, REST Our Interview Process: We believe in a transparent hiring process that mirrors real engineering work. Here’s what to expect: 1. Intro Meeting (20 minutes) Initial conversation with our engineering team about your background and experience with full-stack development. 2. Take-Home Assignment (2-4 hours) A practical coding exercise using our actual tech stack: React/TypeScript frontend and Kotlin/Spring backend, with a GraphQL API. You'll implement a feature end-to-end, from UI to API to backend logic. 3. Live Technical Interview (60 minutes) A collaborative coding session with a Motion engineer where you'll walk through your solution and extend it with new functionality. Compensation: Up to $173k annual base salary. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, location, and internal equity.
