Saint Benedict of Nursia Parish in Wallingford, CT is looking for a dedicated and organized Administrative Assistant to join our staff. In this role, you will be providing administrative support to the Pastor by assisting with daily operations to ensure a smooth functioning parish office. You will represent the Parish to the public in a manner that reflects favorably on the Catholic Church and the vision of the Pastor. Provide support to the Pastor by assisting with preparation of correspondences and letters. • Draft Thank You letters for gifts and donations. • Prepare documentation necessary for parish operations and ensure paperwork is completed accurately. • Handle & sort incoming mail. • Maintain church calendar – and scheduling of building use. • Schedule Mass intentions and sanctuary candles – as well as taking payments. • Assist in scheduling sacramental celebrations (i.e. Funerals, Weddings, Baptisms) • Assist maintaining sacramental records. • Place orders for office supplies, custodial supplies, and the like. • Coordinate the purchasing of church needs including candles, hosts, wine, etc. • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information. • Work closely with the Pastor, Parish Staff and Volunteers to ensure seemless communication and operations. • Manage and update parish census data and other parish software Answer phones and respond to parish questions. • High school diploma or equivalent; additional administrative training a plus. • Fluent in English communication both written and verbal. • Strong customer service orientation. • Strong organizational skills. • Proficient in computer use especially - Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel. • Ability to interact with families professionally and empathetically.
