Job Title: Precon/Design Phase Manager - Solar Company Overview: Mortenson is a leading national construction and real estate development company with a strong focus on renewable energy projects, particularly solar power. Role Overview: As a Precon/Design Phase Manager in our Solar Group, you will play a critical role in managing the preconstruction and design phases of solar projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are planned efficiently, budgets are met, and designs align with client expectations and regulatory requirements. What You'll Do: - You will lead the preconstruction and design phase activities for solar projects, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables. - You will coordinate with architects, engineers, and internal teams to develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets. - You will analyze design documents and provide constructability reviews to optimize project outcomes. - You will manage risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies during the design phase. - You will maintain communication with clients and stakeholders to align project goals and expectations. - You will support procurement efforts by providing detailed project requirements and specifications. - You will track project progress and prepare reports for senior management. - You will foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement. What You Bring: - Minimum of 5 years of experience in preconstruction or design phase management, preferably in solar or renewable energy projects. - Strong knowledge of solar project design, construction processes, and industry standards. - Proficiency with project management software and design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams and clients. - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. - Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and advanced design coordination. - Familiarity with local and federal regulations related to solar energy projects. - PMP or equivalent project management certification. - Background in sustainable construction practices and LEED certification.
