Job Title: Public Health Communications Specialist – Suicide & Gambling Prevention Location: Remote (with availability for virtual meetings) Employment Type: Contract (Part-Time, ~15–20 hrs/week) Contract Term: Estimated January–June 2026 Pay Rate: $120/hour Start Date: Contingent on contract award (mid-January 2026) Description: We are seeking a qualified Public Health Communications Specialist to lead strategic messaging and campaign planning for a regional behavioral health initiative. This is a short-term contract role contingent upon award of a public-sector contract. The selected candidate will contribute to public education efforts addressing suicide prevention and problem gambling awareness in Central Virginia. Responsibilities: • Develop monthly health messaging themes and content strategy • Lead content planning using the Strategic Prevention Framework • Draft written reports for submission to state health agencies • Collaborate with creative and digital team members • Ensure evidence-based, compliant messaging on sensitive health topics • Attend virtual stakeholder meetings and present campaign results Requirements: • Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) required • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) strongly preferred • Minimum 5 years’ experience in public or behavioral health communications • Experience writing reports for state behavioral health departments • Knowledge of suicide prevention and gambling addiction resources • Familiarity with community-based campaigns and messaging best practices Pay: $100.00 - $120.00 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 – 20.0 per week Work Location: Remote
