The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $87,235.00 to $128,133.00, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The Information Technology Specialist-III position will support the Montgomery County Maryland Public Safety Data Systems (PSDS) environment. This position provides support of the County’s 911 Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, Records Management Systems (RMS), Mobile Data Systems, and support interfaces. The person in this position requires a strong sense of operational awareness and the ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, networks, operating systems, and security issues. The candidate will have strong communication and triage skills to work with multiple county agencies and vendors. Ideal candidate will have: • · Strong customer satisfaction skills and operational awareness. • · Great interpersonal skills focused on inclusion, team building, and cross-training. • · Strong oral and written communication skills conveying both technical and non-technical information • · Experience using Microsoft Applications (Access, Excel, Word, One-Drive, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Power Apps). • · The ability to administer Microsoft Server and Active Directory management, with an understanding of application deployment via SCCM and Domain GPOs. • · Ability to be proactive, self-motivated, work well under pressure and manage multiple issues concurrently. Major Duties Include: • · Support Montgomery County agencies providing the latest reliable IT architecture for Public Safety. • · The position requires an understanding of Information Systems standards and vulnerability mitigation within an Enterprise environment. • · Solid working knowledge of VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V • · Professionally collaborate with end users to deliver customer-oriented services. • · Desktop support and troubleshooting skills to resolve system and application issues. • · Identify security threats, and threat levels, and develop mitigation plans while developing and implementing security and compliance policies. • · Monitor, evaluate, and resolve system and application issues in Public Safety architecture. • · Create technical documents, drawings, policies, procedures, and reports • · Perform other job-related duties as assigned This position requires two background checks: one by the department and one by public safety. A criminal background check and a credit history check will be conducted on the selected candidate prior to appointment, and both will be significant factors in the hiring decision. This position may require attending meetings or performing work at locations outside the office, as well as working evenings or weekends when necessary. This position REQUIRES possession of a valid driver's license from applicant's state of residence, and the ability to drive a county vehicle to observe and/or perform work on the Transfer Station grounds or site visits. Experience: Three (3) years of information technology experience in Microsoft Desktop and Enterprise Server support and configuration, Hardware support for Desktop clients, Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted PROBATIONARY PERIOD: Individuals appointed to a position in this class will be required to serve a probationary period of twelve (12) months and, if promoted to a position in this class, will be required to serve a probationary period of six (6) months. Performance will be carefully evaluated during the probationary period. Continuation in this class will be contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period. Physical Ability: Ability to lift boxes containing computer support items and equipment such as printers, computers, modems, and monitors weighing up to 50 pounds. Medical Protocol: This position requires completion of a pre-employment Medical History Form to assess your ability to safely perform the essential duties of the role. Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following: • Experience integrating Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and related interfaces. • Professional Certifications: One or more of the following (or equivalent): • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate • Project Management Professional (PMP) • VMware Certified Professional • CompTIA certifications (A+, Cloud+, Security+) • Technical Experience: • Minimum five (5) years of experience configuring Microsoft desktop and enterprise server environments. • Minimum five (5) years of experience providing hardware support for desktop clients. • Minimum two (2) years of experience supporting networks, including switches, routers, and enterprise VPN solutions. • Working knowledge of Fortinet and Cisco network equipment.
