7+ years progressive procurement experience with 5+ years in leadership, strong strategic sourcing and negotiation skills, ERP/MRP experience, and preferably a master's degree.
JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Procurement is responsible for leading the organization’s purchasing and supply chain strategy to maximize cost savings, supplier performance, and operational efficiency. This role oversees procurement operations, vendor management, contract negotiations, and purchasing compliance across all categories of spend. The Director will partner with leadership teams, department heads, and external suppliers to drive long-term sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic Leadership • Develop and execute procurement strategies that support company goals, margin improvement, and operational excellence. • Implement policies, procedures, and best practices for purchasing, sourcing, and vendor management. • Identify and drive cost savings initiatives, including volume-based contracts, supplier consolidation, and alternative sourcing. Vendor & Contract Management • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements to ensure competitive advantage and risk mitigation. • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring quality, delivery, and compliance standards are met. • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs and scorecards; implement corrective actions when needed. Operational Execution • Oversee daily purchasing activities, ensuring timely acquisition of materials, equipment, and services. • Ensure proper inventory management, supply continuity, and alignment with production schedules. • Collaborate with Finance to forecast budgets and track savings performance Team Leadership • Manage and develop a team of purchasing agents / buyers and procurement professionals. • Provide training, mentoring, and career development opportunities for staff. • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. Compliance & Risk Management • Ensure procurement practices comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. • Mitigate supply chain risks through contingency planning and diversified sourcing strategies. • Implement and monitor adherence to ISO, GMP, or other industry standards (if applicable). REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or equivalent, Business Administration, or related field (master’s degree preferred). • 7+ years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. • Proven track record of strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management. • Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills. • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities. • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and procurement software tools. • Professional certifications (CPSM, CIPS, CPM) a plus.
