Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Senior DevOps Software Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. You will join a systems engineering team defining the next generation of space communication systems supporting US Space Force (USSF) satellite communications. You will support Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. You will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USSF. You will lead and support several working groups responsible for leading technical discussion, resolve and identify risk, requirement gaps, developing briefings, writing, and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes. The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the US Space Force’s Space Systems Center (SSC). We support the Space Force’s acquisition of state of the art satellite communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems. Key Responsibilities: Maintain and enhance helm charts for deployment of Docker-based microservices. Help with release management and deployment of microservices in a Kubernetes environment (AWS EKS, Azure AKS). Help with vulnerability assessments, security monitoring, and incident response automation. Work with developers to implement secure coding practices and application security testing. Deploy DevOps practices for automating the software engineering practices across multiple projects. Ensure we have solid, foundational processes in place. The design decisions you will make in this position will have a direct and lasting impact on the success of the entire software team and organization. The DevOps Engineer will work directly with internal and external stakeholders to understand evolving requirements and identify key technologies and architecture design patterns used by the team. Stand up agile development teams and will oversee the instantiation of DevOps pipelines in both on-prem and cloud environments. Work Environment: Location: On-site Travel Requirements: Minimal Working Hours: Standard Qualifications: Required: Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required for this position Experience and Education: BS degree in Computer Science or Information Systems; other degrees will be considered with relevant work experience 7 years of DevOps software development and infrastructure design. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Ability to design, implement, and manage secure cloud infrastructure solutions (AWS, Azure). Proficiency in maintaining CI/CD pipelines with security best practices (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD). Help with release management and deployment of microservices in a Kubernetes environment (AWS EKS, Azure AKS). Strong knowledge of Helm charts for deployment of Docker-based microservices. Knowledge of logging, monitoring, and alerting capabilities using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or ELK Stack. Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong passion for conducting research, tackling complex problems, and continuously learning and adopting new technologies. Organization capability with ability to handle competing priorities. Strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), and presentation skills. Desired: 10+ years of DevOps software development and infrastructure design. Experience with microservices architectures. Knowledge of Agile methodologies. Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Docker Certified Associate, or Kubernetes Administrator. Experience with CI/CD on classified software development networks. Compensation: The pay range for this position in California is $134,000/year to $168,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
