Our Portfolio Operations team partners directly with company leadership and internal stakeholders to drive performance improvements. Position Summary: We are seeking a Business Data Analyst to join our Portfolio Operations team. In this role, you’ll work directly with operational and financial data from our portfolio companies to perform analysis, build dashboards, and develop actionable insights. You’ll play a key role in helping internal teams and company leadership understand performance trends and identify areas for improvement. This is a hands-on analytical role, primarily using Excel and Power BI — no coding or advanced data science tools required. Key Responsibilities: • Collect, organize, and validate large datasets from portfolio companies (typically Excel-based). • Perform analysis on operational, financial, and performance data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities. • Create dashboards and visual reports in Power BI to support internal decision-making and strategy. • Develop easy-to-understand summaries and visualizations of complex data for both technical and non-technical audiences. • Work closely with internal teams to support portfolio monitoring, reporting, and performance improvement initiatives. • Build and maintain reporting templates, scorecards, and other tools to streamline recurring analyses. • Support initiatives such as SKU rationalization, profitability analysis, and organizational benchmarking to drive strategic decision-making across portfolio companies. • Contribute to automation and enhancement of FP&A reporting, including sales dashboards, P&L dashboards, and KPI reporting. Requirements: • 2–4 years of experience in an analytical role (e.g., business analyst, data analyst, FP&A, consulting). • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, advanced formulas, charts) and Power BI. • Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret and synthesize data into actionable insights. • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with large and sometimes messy datasets. • Effective communicator — able to clearly explain findings through both written and visual outputs. • Experience in private equity, management consulting, or working with operating teams is a plus.
