Software Database Engineer (Contract) Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft. Summary This position offers a unique opportunity to drive meaningful environmental impact through data engineering and analytics. Working at the intersection of technology and sustainability, you will serve as a critical technical contributor supporting carbon and waste reduction initiatives. Your work will directly enable governance, reporting, and cross-team alignment on key sustainability commitments, including Scope 3 emissions reduction, circular design, and embodied carbon disclosure. By building robust data infrastructure and developing innovative analytical solutions, you will help standardize practices across sourcing, engineering, and logistics functions while mitigating financial risk and accelerating progress toward ambitious sustainability targets. This fully remote role requires strong technical expertise combined with collaborative skills to work effectively across multiple stakeholder groups. Job Responsibilities • Build and maintain data pipelines to support sustainability reporting and analytics • Assemble large, complex datasets from multiple sources to create comprehensive data repositories • Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy of sustainability metrics • Develop analytical tools that generate actionable business insights for decision-makers • Create dashboards and visual reporting solutions to communicate data effectively to stakeholders • Collaborate with project owners to collect and document business requirements for reporting initiatives • Develop AI-powered productivity tools to enhance operational efficiency, such as Carbon Free Energy validation tools • Ensure data quality and integrity across all reporting systems and pipelines Requirements • Minimum 8 years of experience working with SQL, Kusto, Azure Synapse, DAX, M (Power Query), Python, and Power BI • Minimum 8 years of experience applying Agile methodology in project delivery • Minimum 2 years of experience developing AI productivity tools • 8 to 10 years of overall experience in data engineering or related technical field • Experience managing sustainability projects is highly preferred • Supply chain experience is highly preferred • Experience working with AI productivity tools such as Copilot is highly preferred • Strong proficiency in SQL, Kusto, Azure Synapse, DAX, M (Power Query), Python, and Power BI • Expertise in Agile methodology and iterative development practices • Experience developing AI productivity tools using platforms such as Copilot Studio • Advanced data pipeline architecture and maintenance capabilities • Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences • Team collaboration and cross-functional partnership abilities • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and analytical rigor • Openness to feedback and commitment to continuous improvement Additional Details • Location: Remote • Duration: 6 months • Pay Range*: $62 - $70.50 per hour • Weekly Schedule: 40 hours • Job Status: Non-Exempt • Application Deadline: Apply within 72 hours of the posting date to ensure consideration.
