Overview Microsoft Artificial Intelligence (MAI) is the organization within Microsoft that encompasses Copilot, Bing, Edge, and fundamental AI. It’s designed to create the world’s most compelling and successful consumer artificial intelligence (AI) products and models. If successful in our mission to produce an AI companion for everyone, this will have a profound impact on society, changing everything from health and education to social relationships and work. Working with the MAI organization, we are now looking to establish a new leading publication with a distinct brand identity to understand this shift and discuss it in an independent framework. We are seeking a Content and Social Media Program Manager to bring both structure and flair to its operations and public-facing activities. This role is at the intersection of publishing, communications, logistics, promotion and cross-functional support across the range of our output—both supporting the journal’s launch and growth while also coordinating key events and initiatives across MAI. From curating convenings and high-profile lectures to managing editorial operations, building a readership and social media storytelling, this is a can-do generalist role for someone with taste, agility, and executional excellence. You’ll help shape how Microsoft AI shows in the world—and how the department makes its ideas real. Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day. Responsibilities Manage scheduling, contributor tracking, permissions, contracts, and workflow logistics to ensure timely delivery and publication of editorial content across formats. Design and execute campaigns across email, social, and other owned platforms to raise the journal’s profile. Develop promotional strategies for new essays, podcast drops, and convening series, while building relationships with contributors to amplify their work post-publication. Manage the journal’s social channels with a sharp eye for editorial tone and cultural relevance, drafting posts, scheduling content, and engaging with followers and contributors. Support live coverage of events, launches, and cross-platform storytelling. Support planning and execution of lectures, symposia, private dinners, and journal convenings. Handle venue logistics, guest lists, catering, speaker support, and run-of-show. Collaborate with the commissioning editor and Futures leadership on event and other content programming, organization and delivery. Work on wider Communications projects from across MAI to nail the wider messaging around AI and our team. Assist in operational support across the Futures. Coordinate calendars, track budget usage, manage vendors, and ensure smooth collaboration across a wide variety of different activities. Apply yourself to a range of urgent questions, tasks related to comms, brand, events and editorial as needed across the Office of Microsoft AI’s CEO. Embody our culture and values. Qualifications Required/Minimum Qualifications 5+ years' experience in program management, producer or digital content and social media management, or experience in a writing or editing role OR equivalent experience Additional or Preferred Qualifications 2+ years' experience in editorial and event operations, including content workflows, contributor engagement, social media, and cross-platform promotion, while supporting logistics and communications across brand and programming initiatives. Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and levels while also contributing to a positive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team. Experience and/or interest in AI or technology more widely. Experience working in media and events setting including social media management.
