Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Benefit Eligible Yes Screening Date 2025-12-22 Job Description Summary To inspect and ensure compliance with fire and life safety codes. Responsible for protecting life and property by ensuring the design, installation, maintenance, and compliance of all fire and life safety systems within the University's facilities. This role involves conducting inspections, assisting with the development of safety plans, and ensuring adherence to all local, state, and federal fire safety laws and regulations. Schedule and conduct fire drills/emergency evacuation exercises. To assist in the operation of the lab safety program. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Description Essential Duties: • Conduct routine and unscheduled fire and life safety inspections of all facilities. • Code enforcement & interpretation • Coordinate and conduct fire drills and other emergency preparedness activities. • Maintain detailed records of all inspection activities, test results and corrective actions. Minimum Qualifications: • High School diploma or equivalent • Experience in fire safety inspection, fire prevention or a related field. • Valid Ohio driver's license Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Ability to operate University vehicles and golf carts • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to identify hazards and recommend effective solutions. • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks Preferred Qualifications: • Associate's degree in fire science or closely related field (or equivalent combination of experience and training) • Certification as a fire safety inspector in the State of Ohio • Nicet certification in WBFPS Additional Position Information (if applicable) Work Environment: Duties require: Frequent outdoor activities during periods of extreme hot or cold temperatures; ability to climb ladders and steep stairs; ability to open/close valves in sometimes awkward positions and read gauges; ability to lift and carry equipment that weighs up to 75 pounds.
