We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Risk Analyst with experience in payment processing and merchant services to support our Risk Compliance team. This role is ideal for someone early in their risk career who understands merchant acquiring, transaction monitoring, and card network rules, and who is looking to grow within the payments industry. The Junior Risk Analyst will assist in identifying, monitoring, and mitigating financial and operational risk across our merchant portfolio while ensuring compliance with card network and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities • Perform daily monitoring of merchant transaction activity to identify suspicious, high-risk, or anomalous behavior • Assist in risk reporting, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports on merchant activity, chargebacks, fraud trends, and losses • Review merchant accounts for compliance with internal risk policies and card brand rules (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover) • Support investigations related to fraud, excessive chargebacks, high-risk transactions, and processing irregularities • Monitor and track chargeback ratios, fraud rates, and processing thresholds • Assist with merchant outreach and follow-ups related to risk inquiries and documentation requests • Maintain accurate records and case notes within risk management systems • Collaborate with underwriting, compliance, and operations teams as needed • Escalate findings to senior risk analysts or management when appropriate What We Offer • Growth opportunities within a risk and payments-focused career path • Hands-on exposure to real-world merchant risk scenarios • Collaborative team environment • Competitive compensation and benefits • Training and mentorship from senior risk professionals Qualifications Qualifications Experience • 1–3 years of experience in payment processing, merchant services, or a related financial risk role • Basic understanding of: • Merchant acquiring and transaction flows • Fraud and chargeback risk • Card-not-present (CNP) and card-present transactions • Keyed, e-commerce, and high-ticket transactions • Familiarity with card network programs such as MATCH, monitoring programs, or risk thresholds is a plus • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail • Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and reporting tools (Excel/Google Sheets required) • Ability to follow procedures, document findings, and meet deadlines • Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred (Not Required) • Experience with payment platforms or processors (e.g., TSYS, Fiserv, etc.) • Exposure to fraud tools, risk dashboards, or monitoring systems • Knowledge of AML, KYC, or underwriting fundamentals
