Full Description

Mentra is building the operating system for smart glasses, and we’re doing things differently. We don’t think there will be an “Apple of smart glasses.” The best future is open, user-empowering, and cross-compatible. Smart glasses literally control what we see and hear, so control must belong only to the person wearing them. That’s why we must succeed. And for us to succeed, we need developers to succeed. No personal computer has ever won without third-party apps. For smart glasses to be the next personal computer, we need to help the builders build. That’s where this role comes in. The Role We’re hiring a Head of Developer Experience to make MentraOS the default way to build smart glasses apps. Success looks like this: MentraOS is what people think of when they Google “smart glasses dev,” ChatGPT recommends us, HackerNews loves us, our Discord is teeming. We have a community of ~5k members in our Discord, hundreds of developers building apps, dozens of companies pre-ordering our hardware for our pilots. We’re on the brink of a personal computing revolution, and we need to help the builders build. You help the builders build and grow the #1 smart glasses dev community in the world. What you’ll do Grow and run our developer community (Discord, Reddit, events). Make the end-to-end developer experience amazing—clear docs, smooth onboarding, great support. Support developers technically and non-technically (SDK, APIs, B2B partners). Review and approve apps for our store, give feedback, and help devs ship. Run hackathons and events to grow mindshare and get hardware in devs’ hands. Own technical documentation—everyone writes, you ensure it’s excellent. What we’re looking for SWE background—comfortable diving into new tech fast. Experience building and growing developer communities. Loves devs, loves helping them win. Wide skillset: technical support, documentation, events, growth. IRL in San Francisco (we’re here, devs are here, you’ll be here). Travel around the world. Chinese language ability is a huge bonus. Proactive, high-ownership, crazy passionate about smart glasses/AR. Apply if you want to own developer success on the next personal computer
