Graphic design within PromiseStudios is not decorative output. It is visual governance. Design defines: • Brand cohesion • Public credibility • Campaign clarity • Institutional tone • Cross-division consistency Every layout, deck, social tile, and publication cover reflects MAP’s structural discipline and dignity-centered mission. Role Overview We are seeking a Creative Director of Graphic Design & Visual Identity Systems to lead and define MAP’s visual language across all PromiseStudios initiatives. This founding leadership role will: • Establish brand standards and typography systems • Define layout architecture for campaigns and publications • Oversee design consistency across divisions • Guide graphic designers and visual contributors • Maintain visual coherence across digital and print platforms The Creative Director will ensure that all design work aligns with MAP’s institutional identity and long-term brand architecture. This role requires aesthetic authority, systems thinking, and disciplined execution. Key Responsibilities • Define and maintain MAP’s visual identity system across divisions • Develop brand guidelines (color systems, typography hierarchy, layout frameworks) • Oversee design for campaigns, social media, reports, lookbooks, and presentations • Ensure design alignment across film, publishing, fashion, civic, and marketing outputs • Lead concept development for major launches and initiatives • Review and approve design assets prior to public release • Develop scalable design templates for internal use • Collaborate with Development on grant-ready presentation materials • Ensure accessibility standards in design (readability, contrast, inclusive typography) • Maintain organized design file systems and brand asset libraries • Maintain timely, professional responsiveness via email and chat in Google Workspace Qualifications • Background in graphic design, visual communications, or brand strategy • Demonstrated experience leading brand systems or multi-platform design campaigns • Strong portfolio reflecting layout discipline and visual coherence • Proficiency in design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or equivalent) • Experience developing structured design guidelines • Ability to balance creativity with institutional consistency Preferred Skills • Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven design • Familiarity with accessibility standards in visual design • Experience designing reports, books, or large-format campaigns • Knowledge of print production workflows • Experience managing distributed design teams Commitment • Founding leadership role • Structured engagement (minimum 5–10 hours per week; scalable during launch cycles) • Remote with NYC collaboration as needed • 6-month minimum commitment preferred What You’ll Build • A unified visual identity system for MAP • Scalable design templates and brand governance standards • Cohesive campaign visuals across divisions • A disciplined graphic language that reflects dignity and structure Design is the first conversation before words are read.
