Full Description

About Mending Mending is a team of healthcare nerds, software engineers, product designers, direct primary care doctors, health insurance experts, and more. Our mission is to craft better health by accelerating the future of care. This starts by building enduring insurance and infrastructure that meets the rapidly evolving needs of patients and providers. Today, we are redefining the role of health insurance – one that focuses on reducing friction for doctors and patients, and investing in ways to create more meaningful doctor-patient relationships. We believe unrushed conversations with doctors lead to better health and lower costs for patients. Our health plans enable all members to have free and frictionless access to a dedicated doctor they know and trust. We’re excited to create health insurance plans you can actually use. We’re backed by top investors and are looking for values-aligned individuals to join our NYC-based founding team. Our aspirations for this role Mending is seeking an enthusiastic individual to execute and support several operational efforts involving our Risk Adjustment (RA) program. RA is a vital part of the operational and financial success of the business, as well as the quality care initiatives we provide to Mending members to ensure they receive great and timely care. This individual will be collaborating with and supporting a variety of internal and external stakeholders to usher end-to-end processes involving everything from data accuracy to member engagement. This will involve direct member outreach, provider education, and review of data files and dashboards to fix issues. For the right candidate, this is a tremendous opportunity to grow professionally by covering a broad surface area of health insurance operations – RA touches nearly every single part of the organization. You should feel energized by the opportunity to not only complete high impact operational tasks, but also learn how all the pieces fit into our broader RA and business strategy. Mending is in its early stages. Each new team member has the opportunity to significantly shape our culture, product, strategy, and operations. Candidates should be eager to work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment where their contributions have a direct and outsized impact. Let’s dive into the details • Manage operational aspects of Mending’s RA program, including coordination of members who have known potential conditions + manage the EDGE data submissions through our vendor partners. • Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to reach out to members, caregivers, and their providers to support coordination of care and RA data completeness. • Complete tasks by following the algorithm for next steps on how to help manage care for these Mending members and ensure proper HCC capture and recapture. • Collaborate with the engineering team to get proper data files, then design a process so future reports can be autogenerated or self-service. • Manage, chase, and correct all errors in the data systems to either resolve issues and ensure claims get submitted successfully, or resolve issues by justifiably bypassing errors and providing ample reasons to skip. This type of error handling and data integrity is vital to the RA program’s success. Experience that excites us Education, experience, and certifications • Bachelor’s degree • At least 2 years of experience in operations, preferably in a technology or health tech startup. This can range from data operations, project management, client implementations, or customer service but the key thing is you have the ability to break down complex problems and complete tasks effectively and efficiently. • While direct health insurance experience is not required, it is important you have the ability and desire to learn quickly. Knowledge, skills, and abilities • Proficiency in Google Suite tools • Be able to communicate with patients and providers tactfully about serious health conditions • Some experience using a CRM or help desk platform for tracking issues and their resolution (Zendesk, HubSpot, etc.) • Excitement and willingness to dive into data, do ad hoc joins and analysis across multiple data tables • Excitement and willingness to use data tools (Looker, Metabase, etc.) • Excitement and willingness to use AI and AI tools (ChatGPT, etc.) • Nice to have: Foundational understanding of SQL and ability to compose queries for large data sets You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
