Position Type: Administration Date Posted: 9/25/2025 Location: District-Wide ALL Locations Position Overview: Medford Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Building Systems/Project Manager to join the Facilities Department. This role is pivotal in managing ongoing and upcoming capital projects, managing the coordinated building systems controls including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, neutralization systems, elevator, fire protection, and security systems. The Building Systems/Project Manager will oversee project timelines, budgets, and coordination with contractors and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this position supports the maintenance, management, and strategic planning of the district's buildings, grounds, and physical infrastructure to create safe, efficient, and welcoming learning environments. The system controls include HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, elevator, fire protection, acid neutralization, and other systems. • Work with designers, engineers, and construction team for the ongoing McGlynn & Andrews HVAC project, and future potential projects at other schools including a potential MSBA project for Medford High School to implement and manage integrated building systems. • Participate in the commissioning processes to ensure systems are balanced and performing at optimum levels. Participate in the punch list processes to ensure all systems are installed, integrated, and functioning as expected and needed prior to completion of the project. • Collaborate with the Chief Operations Officer and the City Planning, Development & Sustainability Department to develop and implement plans for improvements to public buildings that increase energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Plans may incorporate recommendations for capital investments, policy development, and/or procedural changes that reduce the City's energy costs and maximize efficiency. • Work with Facilities Department staff and with various other departments to communicate, educate, and implement plan components including preventative maintenance programs, energy reduction efforts, systems upgrades, and other projects. Establish and monitor preventative maintenance procedures and implement scheduling and tracking systems in the district's school operations system (currently OperationsHERO). • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, district and city staff, and external partners • Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and communicate updates to MPS Central Senior Leadership, including but not limited to the Chief Operations Officer, Finance Director, and Superintendent • Assist in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and district policies • Collaborate with the Chief Operations Officer and other district leaders to align projects with overall facilities strategy and goals • Contribute to maintaining safe, efficient, and attractive school environments Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in HVAC Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred • 5 years experience as a Building Systems Manager, Project Manager, systems engineer, or combination of associated education and experience. • Knowledge of current building HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, and other systems as well as DDC and building automation controls. • Proven experience in managing capital or construction projects, ideally within an educational or public sector setting. • Knowledge of mandatory safety system testing and documentation requirements (fire protection systems, elevators, laboratory eyewashes, laboratory acid waste neutralization etc). • Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and contract management • Ability to interpret and apply relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to school facilities • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders Compensation: Work year is 260 days with flexible full-time hours to respond to project needs and timelines. Competitive salary commensurate with experience, with a pay range of $80,000 to $110,000. Full benefits package provided per district policy. FLSA Status: Exempt
