WHY OPEN: DUE TO RETIREMENT Job Summary • Responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the procurement of electronic components, raw materials, and MRO supplies to support contract manufacturing operations. • Collaborates closely with engineering, production, and client account teams to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing that meets customer specifications and delivery schedules. • Maintains strong communication with 2–3 major clients, understanding their project needs and ensuring alignment between purchasing strategies and client expectations. • Navigates tariff regulations and global sourcing challenges to identify viable alternatives and minimize cost impacts. • Builds and sustains supplier relationships to optimize material availability, quality, and pricing in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing services (EMS) environment. Responsibilities • Develop and execute purchasing strategies for electronic components, PCBs, subassemblies, raw materials, and services based on project and client requirements. • Coordinate procurement activities to support high-mix, low-to-mid-volume electronics manufacturing projects for multiple clients. • Work directly with 2–3 key clients to understand project timelines, material requirements, and changes in demand. • Identify and source components based on client BOMs (Bills of Materials) and collaborate with engineering to validate part substitutions when needed. • Analyze and mitigate the impact of tariffs, lead time fluctuations, and global supply chain constraints through alternative sourcing and strategic planning. • Monitor electronic component market trends, pricing, and availability to support competitive procurement decisions. • Maintain and manage accurate purchasing records, supplier contracts, and inventory data within ERP/MRP systems. • Foster strong supplier relationships and use performance metrics to drive improvements in cost, delivery, and quality. • Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations. • Resolve material shortages or delays through proactive communication and supplier management. • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of buyers or purchasing professionals in the EMS sector. • Support cross-functional teams including production, engineering, quality, and account management to align procurement with project goals. • Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities • Proven experience in purchasing/procurement within the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) industry. • Deep understanding of electronic components, sourcing strategies, and component lifecycle management. • Strong ability to interpret BOMs, identify parts needed for projects, and evaluate alternatives or equivalents. • Familiarity with international trade regulations and strategies to manage tariff impacts and supply chain risk. • Strong client communication skills with the ability to work closely with customers to align procurement with project needs. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal collaboration and client interaction. • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. • Analytical thinker with solid planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. • Financial acumen and risk analysis capabilities related to supply chain costs and sourcing decisions. • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing procurement teams. • Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively across departments. • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks effectively, and make timely decisions in a high-pressure environment.
