The Program Manager, Internal Communications, is responsible for managing institution-wide internal communication programs. This includes writing, editorial oversight, adherence to brand standards, and the production of daily news on MD Anderson's intranet. The role involves news and feature writing, editing, analyzing metrics, strategic planning, and logistics for Inside MD Anderson. The position requires a high level of creativity, respect for confidentiality, independent planning and decision-making, and effective problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have website experience including writing for websites, and knowledge in metrics. Journalism experience would be beneficial in this position, as well as experience writing for a healthcare organization. Job Specific Competencies Inside.mdanderson.org: • Consult, develop, implement, and manage communication strategies, plans, and content for MD Anderson's intranet to advance organizational goals. • Actively participate in writing, editing, and coordinating daily news as part of the institutional communications team. • Ensure style and brand compliance throughout the intranet and related materials. • Manage backend data within the content management system in coordination with the supervisor. • Ensure consistency and integrity of documents, images, accessibility, and more. • Collaborate daily with team members and customers throughout the institution to edit and maintain online content. Broad Institutional Communications: • Develop, manage, measure, and consult on internal communications projects, including broad coverage of institutional initiatives such as Boot Walk and other community-related efforts. • Consult, develop, implement, and manage communication strategies, plans, and products to advance the communication of institutional goals. • Collaborate with customers and others in Institutional Affairs. Writing, Brand/Editorial Style: • Produce clear, consistent writing and editing in all work products. • Command of Associated Press style and enforcement of MD Anderson brand and style. • Regularly contribute to publications, programs, and services through articles, presentations, videos, scripts, slides, flyers, and other materials. Experience Required: Six years of experience public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field. With preferred degree, four years of required experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
