Research University Practice The Research Analyst will report directly to the Managing Director and will support core team strategic intelligence services and operations across the Research Universities Practice. Specific responsibilities include: • Strategic Intelligence: Support the development of services and products covering federal agencies including the NSF, NIH, DoD, DOC, and DoE. • Report Development: Collaborate to create and maintain federal agency, and grant program reports using original research, expert interviews, and qualitative/quantitative data analysis. • Brief and Memo Development: Produce webinar/meeting briefs, and budget/appropriations memos, and other briefs as assigned. • Newsletter Management: Develop daily and weekly newsletters, including researching grant opportunities, confirming eligibility, and providing accurate summaries. • Operations & SOPs: Maintain standard operating procedures for all tasks and manage newsletter recipient lists and formatting. • Business Development: Conduct background research for business originators on upcoming pitches and RFP responses. • Data Integrity: Support the maintenance of contact lists and perform data cleaning for webinar and conference attendee lists. • Market Research: Execute ad hoc research requests regarding emerging market opportunities. • Logistics & Events: Manage DC conference supply orders, exhibitor booth setup, and shipment receiving. • Meeting Coordination: Assist the Core Team Manager with scheduling, agenda creation, and action-item tracking for monthly meetings and retreats. Requirements Requirements and Preferred Qualifications • Education & Experience: Minimum of a four-year Bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years of professional experience in a relevant analytical role. • Subject Matter Expertise: Special consideration is given to applicants with direct experience in federal grant seeking and the federal budget. • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel and Pivot Tables), Adobe, and managing large datasets. • Analytical Ability: Excellent reading comprehension and the ability to synthesize lengthy, complex materials into concise summaries. • Communication: Exceptional writing, editing, and interpersonal skills for professional interactions with clients and colleagues. • Project Management: Proven ability to deliver on-time, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment while "toggling" between multiple priorities. • Agency Knowledge: Commitment to obtaining and retaining working knowledge of the NIH, DOE, NSF, DOD, and DOC structures and missions. • Operational Mindset: Ability to troubleshoot problems independently and maintain a proactive, solutions-focused, and positive attitude. • Attention to Detail: Superior organizational skills with a focus on thoroughness across all core team and internal projects. Compensation and Benefits • Normal work hours are 8:30 am through 5:30 pm Monday through Friday, Eastern time zone. • Location: In-office three days a week in the Washington, DC office. • Competitive benefits include: 401(k), defined-benefit pension plan, medical, dental, basic & voluntary life insurance, long-term disability and employee-directed vision, dependent care FSA, Healthcare HSA/FSA, and commuter benefits and phone stipend. • Salary consideration will be commensurate with experience; range for position is $59,000 - $62,000 annual base salary and discretionary bonus eligibility. • Flexible vacation and leave policies.
