We are seeking a highly motivated, intellectually curious, and detail-oriented Legal Data Analyst to join our Data Strategy team. This role is focused on maximizing the strategic value of legal and litigation-related data, which plays a critical role in our investment decision-making and advisory capabilities. The ideal candidate is analytical, autonomous, and enthusiastic about working at the intersection of law, data, and AI. We’re looking for someone who gets excited by complex problems, quickly orients themselves to the challenge, and takes ownership of crafting and executing a clear game plan. What You’ll Do: • Structure, document, and maintain legal-related datasets to ensure their accuracy and usability across the firm. • Play a critical role in developing and managing legal data ELT processes and orchestration, including SQL-based data transformation via DBT and AI-enabled data pipelines. • Develop strategic perspectives on how litigation and legal data impact business performance, and take initiative in defining and solving related problems. • Contribute to the development, documentation, and optimization of legal-oriented workflows across the firm, with a focus on improving efficiency, consistency, and strategic value. • Research, prototype, productionize, orchestrate, and refine AI agent-based workflows. • Manage legal data vendor relationships and assess opportunities for process and data improvements. • Serve as a thought partner to the broader data and legal teams by identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and helping define how legal data should be leveraged to support Maverick’s investment strategy. We’re Looking For: • A degree in legal studies, business analytics, data science, or a related field is preferred. • Practical experience in the legal domain (law firm, legal data or services provider, etc.) • Exposure to real estate or finance/private equity is a plus. • A strategic and process-oriented thinker who thrives on solving complex problems as part of a multidisciplinary team. • Comfort operating both at a high level (strategic planning, systems thinking) and in the weeds (workflow execution, data wrangling). • Strong interest in the evolving landscape of AI-enabled automation. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate effectively with both legal professionals and technical teams. Technical Qualifications: • SQL and/or Python skills • Familiarity with current capabilities of various AI models (OpenAI, Gemini, etc.) for legal document analysis • Experience with New York court system data is a plus • Experience working in Cloud environments; Google Cloud Platform is a plus • Experience working with APIs or JSON data is a plus • Familiarity with AI enablement technologies (vector databases, knowledge graphs, RAG/GraphRAG, orchestration frameworks, etc.) is a plus Compensation will include a salary of $140,000–$160,000.
