3-5 years warehouse or manufacturing supervisory experience, preferably a bachelor's degree in a related field, professional safety certifications preferred, and proficiency with WMS and Microsoft Office.
The Warehouse QC and Safety Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining all quality control and safety programs within the warehouse facility. The manager will ensure that all operations, including receiving, handling, storage, and shipping, meet the company's quality standards and comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations. The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented leader who can promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Quality control (QC) management • Establish standards: Develop and implement quality control processes and standards for all incoming, in-process, and outgoing goods. • Inspections and audits: Conduct regular inspections of products, materials, and processes to ensure compliance with company and industry specifications. • Reporting and analysis: Collect, analyze, and summarize quality data, preparing reports for management on performance metrics, defect rates, and process improvements. • Root cause analysis: Investigate and resolve quality issues or customer complaints, identifying the root cause and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. • Inventory oversight: Manage inventory to minimize damage, address quality concerns, and ensure proper product rotation (e.g., First-In, First-Out, or FIFO). Safety management • Program development: Create, implement, and enforce warehouse safety policies and procedures in compliance with regulations from agencies like OSHA. • Training: Develop and conduct safety training programs for all warehouse staff, including proper use of equipment, material handling, and emergency procedures. • Inspections and audits: Perform regular safety audits and inspections of the facility, equipment, and grounds to identify and mitigate potential hazards. • Incident response: Investigate all workplace accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents, documenting the circumstances and recommending preventive measures. • Emergency management: Organize and manage emergency procedures, such as fire drills and evacuation plans, and maintain a trained emergency response team. Leadership and operations • Manage daily operations at the port, including labor scheduling, cargo loading/unloading, and vehicle handling. • Supervise container planning and outbound shipping schedules to meet customer deadlines. • Collaborate with internal departments (logistics, documentation, warehouse) to synchronize port activities. • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and Matus safety protocols at all facilities. • Track and reconcile port inventory and manage cargo movement logs with full accuracy. • Drive cost savings across labor, equipment rentals, drayage, and demurrage charges. • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective actions to streamline processes. • Oversee port maintenance, equipment inspections, and vendor performance. • Monitor and improve quality control standards to minimize cargo damage and delays. • Report KPIs, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives to senior leadership. • Maintain compliance of annual renewals, permits, and lease agreements • Team management: Supervise, train, and develop the quality assurance and safety team to achieve departmental objectives. • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as operations, logistics, and supply chain, to streamline processes and address interdepartmental issues. • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for quality inspections, safety training, audits, and incident investigations. • Process improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging employee participation and implementing new ideas to enhance efficiency and safety. Required qualifications • Education: A bachelor's degree preferred in a relevant field, such as logistics, supply chain management, or occupational health and safety, is often preferred. • Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, including experience in a supervisory or management capacity. • Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA certification, or a related industry certification are highly preferred. • Technical skills: Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
