Responsibilities Job Summary Perform basic field work including collecting information and measurements of utility locations, collecting GPS data points, reviewing system maps and records, and producing field sketches for accurate as -built documentation. MasTec Professional Services will provide detailed training for standard survey and construction practices required for this role for utility design projects. Core Responsibilities • Work independently, make field decisions without direct supervision and be responsible for obtaining field data to determine condition of structures under evaluation. • Adhere and promote company safety measures at all times • Drive safely to test station locations to perform basic field testing of corrosion control systems on underground and submerged metallic structures • Report to client’s local gas distribution office to obtain maps and test station data books • Plan workday to efficiently and safely collect the daily quota of data • Accurately record data in GIS app and by following client’s procedures • Make field decisions and be responsible for obtaining field data that determines conditions of structures under evaluation • Review field results/data with field office corrosion technicians and with management in engineering office • Capture detailed and confirmed field data working with mobile and desktop applications Qualifications Minimum Qualifications • Must have a safe driving record and grant permission to MPS to access their MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) • Ability to pass DOT drug test. • Government contracts require U.S. Citizenship. • Must have a personal cell phone they can use throughout the job • Live in the NJ area and be able to commute to the assigned work locations • Knowledge of MS Office applications, including Outlook • Must have good written and oral communication skills • Ability to work independently as well as interact with team members, clients and management staff • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills Candidates with satisfactory performance on this job may be considered for continued employment. Physical Demands and Work Environment This position may require significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces, lifting up to 50 pounds, and, in general, being overall physically demanding. It may also require work in an all-weather environment.
